    I'm a student of Historical Archaeology at the University of Virginia. As you can probably tell, I work in the Peidmont and Chesapeake of Virginia.

    I had to smile..."shovel bum". Your lucky to have missed the rains over the weekend. So, what type of artifacts are your specialty ? Native American or older artifacts ?
    You'd love my yard if it has anything to do with rocks moved by the glaciers. Youngest dug up some that aren't supposed to be in this area. I used to encourage him to dig in the side lawn when he was in elementary school { kept him busy and out of trouble}. Anyhow, he used his dad's shovel & my garden tools along with his much older brother and a ladder to dig up "fossils". Took several to the Booneshoft Museum in Dayton, OH and their curator found a couple to be exceptional. She gave us a name & phone # of a curator in Cincinnati , but I didn't contact him. Too afraid my side lawn might be excavated too much. LOL

    I know, silly of me. Would have been happy if my son would have found arrowheads instead. LOL

    Hi ! I take it that reading is a soothing pass time for you. Your list is quiet ecliptic. Mine is too, although I do have a passion for paranormal romance. BTW, I live up in Shelby County, OH. Have friends that live somewhere in your vicinity. Since you live down there, do you work at Boone Lick ? Love walking there.

    Hopefully you didn't freeze to death! I'm sure you've heard the famous quote attributed to Mark Twain: "The coldest winter I ever spent was a summer in San Francisco"

    Hi, Litsa. I’m from the Booktivity group and wanted to welcome you to our group. How this works is that every month a category is voted on by our members. Depending what the category is for that month, you just need to find a word in the title that fits the category, read that book, and come back and post a review of it.

    This month the category is outer space. Hope you’ll join us and have fun!

  • The Ancient One

    The Ancient One says

    The Road Not Taken

    Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
    And sorry I could not travel both
    And be one traveler, long I stood
    And looked down one as far as I could
    To where it bent in the undergrowth;

    Then took the other, as just as fair,
    And having perhaps the better claim,
    Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
    Though as for that the passing there
    Had worn them really about the same,

    And both that morning equally lay
    In leaves no step had trodden black.
    Oh, I kept the first for another day!
    Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
    I doubted if I should ever come back.

    I shall be telling this with a sigh
    Somewhere ages and ages hence:
    Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
    I took the one less traveled by,
    And that has made all the difference.
