You are quite a diverse reader. Have you read "The Killer Angels" by Michael Shaara? After reading that book, I had to go to Gettysburg, and have been visited there twice. And yet, I am drawn to return there.

I dress very conventionally myself. I don't look like a Pagan. But I'm in the buckle of the Bible Belt and don't like confrontation. I may dress conventionally, but I'm anything but.

Thank you for saying so! I was a Wiccan for many years before I became a Druid. I've always been interested in a lot of different subjects. Plus, I have several hobbies and I think that I like to read about my hobbies as much as I enjoying participating in them.

Beowulf, I like your name and I like your hat!
I see you have read 2 of my favorite stories. I grew up with "A Christmas Carol" - at watched the movie (black and white) every season. Finally, I read the book. I think the reason for my buying a Grandfather Clock was that the chimes reminded me of the ghosts visiting Scrooge.
I had read "The Stand" after 9/11. I'm sure the story would not have had such a hold on me had I read it before, but the possibility of a virus overtaking our planet after loosing the Twin Towers certainly seemed more factual than fiction.
    Peace.
