Boy! You are a READER!!!! You know what...I liked "Peony in Love" in the beginning because I thought it was very interesting about their customs (foot binding...Yikes!) but after she died, so unnecessarily, I REALLY got turned off and quit reading it!!! I am still waiting for "City of Thieves" to come in the mail from Amazon ....don't know what is taking so long. In the meantime, I'm now reading for the 2nd or 3rd time one of my old romance novels!!! (Does that tell you something about me?) I just found out through this site that my favorite romance writer died!!! No wonder I can't find any new books by her!!! Okay....they weren't ALL romance....they were historical too!!!! hee heeYep! Roger is still being Roger. He does look good, though. He isn't renting that place at the beach any more (darn it, we didn't get to visit him) and is planning on going to Florida for a few months this winter. I think he still has that same girlfriend.Ray's leg has come along very well! Doesn't seem to have slowed him down very much. He's having the stitches taken out Friday.Did I tell you that we'll be leaving for NC next Tuesday, the 27th? Looks like we won't be able to get together until December now. :(
Hey Carolyn!Yeah, I was surprised that you had read "Twilight" but now I understand why! I'm going to finish it, but it is pretty silly now! (My granddaughter, McKayla has read the whole series) I ordered "The Book thief" today from Amazon! I'm eager to read that one. I looked up that book of TJ's, "Code Orange" and decided that I might read it at a later date. It is a book for "young adults or teens" but it sounded pretty good from the description. Well, you may like the book, "Olive Kitteridge" but I just found it really boring in some parts. It got a little more interesting near the end, but not that great. Of course, I had just finished reading, "Say You're One of Them" which was also a collection of short stories so maybe that is what I don't like! We went to the Retired Teacher's Luncheon today. All those Webster teachers were there. Marilyn Mons was there too and she wants to join the group for lunch. (Apparently Tricia told her about it) She was a little hurt that she hadn't been invited and I told her that you and I were only invited last time. Oh,.....Roger was there too!!! He's moved back to Manchester because the person he was renting from at the beach died. Now he's going to Florida for a few months! What a guy!
No, I didn't start that book yet! I read "Olive Kitteridge" and, honestly, found there were too many confusing and too many parts that just dragged on in that book! I needed something different! So I picked up the book, "Twilight", that Michelle had loaned me and started reading that thing. I didn't think I would like it because after all ..... VAMPIRES ...... but I really got into and stayed up until 1:30 the first night reading it! Now it has gotten a little silly so I don't think I'll be reading any more of that series, but it's a change. I need to get a really good mystery that is a "page turner." I may even read one that TJ recommended! Ha ha He said it's "Code Orange." Have you heard of that one? I think it must be a book for young adults or teens.
HOLY COW!!!!! YOU JUST ADDED 100 BOOKS!!!!!!! YOU ARE AMAZING!!!!! :)
thanks!!!!! i will have to look into that!!!!!!!
Hi Carolyn, Glad to hear that you and TJ are friends! :) Of course, I think Mariah is beautiful....but then I may be just a tiny bit bias! She found some beautiful shoes at Broadway Shoes and we had a really enjoyable time. She's very sweet and I think she felt better after getting those shoes! You know, something new always makes us girls feel better!!! Glad you got the first pick of the pirates! Mariah picked a pirate for McKayla too!!!
Hey! I thought you said that TJ asked you to be his friend on here?? Didn't you accept him? I don't see his name on your friend's list or your name on his. What's up with that?
Oops! Got a red pen....I spelled tiara wrong!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Guess I've been retired too long!
Hi Carolyn,Hee hee fudge covered pumpkin.....not sure I would like that. I've made a couple of pirate pumpkins but do not have another teira for a princess! I've made some little animals this time...different. Maybe she would like one of them. Anyway, I have about 12 more to paint ( I bought 23 pumpkins) so when I get done (whew!) I'm going to take a trip to Barnes & Noble to check out books. I'm still thinking about a good, maybe even scary, mystery! I need to spend some time at the bookstore. Thanks for the offer, but not sure I want to wait until you have book club. You know what...I'm going to look up in that big box of Barbie stuff to see if there's anything I can put on a pumpkin! (See how my mind is wandering as I write this!!) Geez! I think it must be time for something sweet.....sundae maybe.
Okay...sounds like a great book! (except I'm wondering about that "death" thing. Anyway, I've been busy painting and decorating pumpkins...so will make a trip to the book store when I get them done. Oh....and yes.....you can have two of them too!!! I'll call you when I get them ready! :)
Oh...I would like to read a book about World War 11!!!!! Which one of those would you recommend that I read first? (you know that I like a good ending! :) ) I had a feeling that I wouldn't like that book Shadow of the Wind because it sounded a little weird. I can't recommend any books to you that you haven't already read because you know that I haven't been reading for a while!
Hi Carolyn!Looks to me like you are doing everything right on here!! You have more books on your shelf than me! Are you kidding....I don't answer all those questions and sometime checked off the stars. (especially if I couldn't remember what the heck the book was about since I read it so long ago!) Anyway, you didn't answer me about that book, THE SHADOW OF THE WIND. That's the one that I was telling you about that so many people said I would like it. Then I noticed that you had read it!! Did you like it????? If I ever get to the bookstore, I'm going to buy it...I think. But I won't like it if it's weird or has a really bad ending!!! You know me ..... so should I buy it?????????????? hee heeI had a great time Thursday!!!! But like you say, we always have a good time together! Thanks again for my wonderful birthday gift!! Oh, by the way....guess what I had for supper that night....HOT FUDGE SUNDAE!!!! IT WAS DELICIOUS!!!!!
Hey!!!! So glad to see you on here!!! Also, I really enjoyed looking at all the books you've read and discovered that you've read that book I was telling you about that was recommended to me by 19 people on here!!! THE SHADOW OF THE WIND ..... Did you like this book????????
