    September-October

This was a pretty good follow up to the The Hunger Games. A lot of times sequels do not live up to the expectations that people have for them. Catching Fire definitely lived up to my expectations. It had the romance and adventure that was ever present in the first book. I can't wait for the next one.

I liked this book a lot. It kind of reminded me of Speak, though. Annabelle is a character that many girls around the same age can relate to. She is a bit insecure and feels like things have a way of never going her way. She is no longer in with the in-crowd so she feels like she doesn't belong. Owen is one of my favorite characters because he is so real and different. He is not some character that you would never meet in real life. He makes mistakes and he owns up to them. Just listen is a great book that makes you think and be thankful.

I have read this book 2 times so far. The characters really appeal to me. There is something about having a carefree pregnant boss, a seemingly unemotional mother, and a handsome and mysterious co-worker, that really drew me in. Now that I have a job, I can relate to how Macy felt when she started working with these other characters (who are so different from herself). Macy is trying to deal with a lot of things; her father dying, her boyfriend dumping her, a new crush, a new job. She is an easy character to relate to.

"The boy's green eyes scanned the dance floor, where slender limbs clad in scraps of silk and black leather appeared and dissapeared inside the revolving columns of smoke as the mundies danced. Girls tossed their long hair, boys swung their leather-clad hips, and bare skin glittered with sweat. Vitality just poured off of them, waves of energy that filled him with a drunken dizziness." This an example of one of many uses of vivid imagery throughout the book.

I loved this book. It had romance, adventure, suspense, and emotion. It kept me on the edge of my seat, wondering what would happen next. It was perfect.

I was surprised that I actually like this book. It was an English assignment that I honestly dreaded. It took countless tries before I could even get passed the first page. Once I got into it though, the suspense kept me reading more. The ending was both frustrating and mysterious. I usually hate that in a book, but for this one it seemed rather... fitting.

Jane Eyre was recommended to me by a librarian. She loved the book so much that she has a dog name Jane Eyre and she insisted that I read the book and watch the movie. I enjoyed reading Jane Eyre because it is a classic and because it has suspense and mystery.

I first decided to read Pride and Prejudice because it it a classic. I figured I should read more classic novels and that they would make me smarter. Pride and Prejudice definitely did not dissapoint in the "make you think" category. I like that about it. That and, of course, Mr. Darcy. :)
