I was born and raised in Penang. I am an Education System dropout which explains my irrepressible drive to self-direct my own learning. My idea of "having fun" is to browse, hunt and read a good book (and discuss it). I invest a lot of personal resources in learning and sharing what I've learned because as a Learning Advocate (majoring in Life, minoring in ESL) I can create an inexhaustible value chain from synthesizing what I read. This value-chain extends right up to and beyond the young people whose minds I can illuminate. I believe "education" needs to provide a transcendental narrative to the learner instead of the current dumbing down that defines schooling around the world.
My childhood fantasy was to read extensively, synthesise, synergise and re-design a context that can be delivered at varying degrees to different people. Thus, at 8, I thought there was no life more ideal than that of an academic. Schooling tarnished that perspective. However, I have found so much more freedom and joy from being a social-capitalist : Believe in advancing the social good but not with complaints and fights and expecting grants and handouts.
I am not affiliated to any community, group, religious or political, movement (govermental or NGO) or any form of organization/association and choose to retain my eclectic, non-partisan, autonomous alignment. I feel it is important to maintain my autonomy and transparency in order for my motives not to be questioned or exploited. I hope to meet supportive and like-minded individuals who believe in non-political social reforms.
I am in the midst of putting my ESL-background to use by providing an organic structure of learning to meet 21st Century Learning needs. I hope I can subsist through my free (as in, no payment) model and rely on the goodwill of individuals and corporations to fund my continued research in 21st Century Learning Design Architecture and investments in technology that will make it all possible. As you can imagine, funding depends entirely on my hourly wages.
I welcome being asked about the direction of my drive as long as it does not come from a premise of suspicion, politics (government and non-government, whichever part of Malaysia you are) or capitalism.
