I am the author of the novel Life and Life Only and a regular reviewer for the New York Journal of Books. Additionally, five of my short stories The Tree (Puffin Circus), The Birthday Party (Monkey Puzzle), The Toll Booth (PANK), The Price of Humiliation (Puffin Circus), and The Chicken or the Egg (The Write Room) and two of my essays, What If You Threw a Party and 45,299 People Showed Up? (SNReview) and The Death of Newspapers (The Wilderness House Literary Review), have appeared in literary magazines since the spring of 2009. I completed a doctorate from Northern Illinois University and a BS in Secondary Education from the University of Wisconsin, where I majored in English. I also have master's degrees from Eastern Kentucky University and Northern Illiinois University. I have been a college baseball coach, managed two pitchers currently on major league rosters, and won a state title as a high school baseball coach, having been named coach or manager of the year on three separate occasions. Currently, to earn a living, I work as a superintendent in a souteastern Wisconsin school district and teach graduate classes for Aurora University.
