I can not remember when I did not have loads of books. They are on every surface of my house. The other side of my bed is full of books. If I have company I have to clean my bed off. I am currently working on my poetry and prose

Pausch was very inspiring. I could not help but wonder if he was as upbeat in real life as he was in the lectures. If he was then he was an extroadinary individual. I did know a few people who died of cancer who remained optomistic until the end, so it is certainly possible. I don't know if I have the strenght of will. I do take from his lectures you must try to go after "your dreams." He certainly managed to do this. There was an absence of religion in his lectures. I wonder if that was intentional or not.

Merry Xmas and Happy Holidays. Happy reading about the Middle Ages, my favorite period in history. Just finished the First Crusade.

I have also read the Norwich trilology. I even obtained the DVD from the Teaching Company on Byzantium. It was taught by Professor Hart of Tulane U. This gave me additional insights. I have always been fascinated by such things as Justinian's effort to restore the Roman Empire, the iconoclastic crisis, Byzantium and the Crusades, and of course the final fall. It was of course ironic that Byzantium asked for the Crusades and it was the Fourth Crusade that fatally weakoned Byzantium.

I see you are reading books on the Black Death. If you have not read Justinian's Flea, I recommend it. That plague was just as devastating as the one in the 13th century.
