Hi! I am from the Philippines and like everyone in Shelfari, I love to read. Used to give up my allowance money to pay my brothers to do housework so I can spend time reading books. Sad to say, reading momentarily took a backseat in my life when I became a mother. But I am determined to make up for it. I try to read 1 book a week but I only get... more »

Hi Ladyhawke, I saw you are planning o read "Harry Potter and The Deathly Hollows". Let me just say put that one on the top of your to read list. I loved it and it tied up the series well. However if you are a big fan like I am you will be disappointed when you get to the last page, read the last sentence, close the book and realize that's it, the story's over.

I saw you read "The Reader" I've seen this one before and thought it might be interesting to check out. What did you think of it, is it worth the time reading?

Two of my favorites that I always recommend is "The Pillars of the Earth" and "World Without End". Both are by Ken Follett and are exceptional. They are long, both topping a 1000 pages but don't let the length put you off from reading them they are great from start to finish. Recently I also read "The Hunger Games" and enjoyed it.

I haven't read The Help. If it was good let me know and I will keep an eye out for it. I have read To Kill a Mockingbird and thought it was a fantastic read. I know what you mean about so much going on. I at times do not feel like I will ever get enough time to finish reading anything. Keep in touch and keep reading.

Reading some S. King, huh? "Nightmares and Dreamscapes", his third book of short stories. I read it quite a while ago, in early high school. There are some good stories there, but I liked "Night Shift" and "Skeleton Crew" much better. What about the Dark Tower series. I started that in high school, but at that time, only three of the seven books were written, then came a huge slump, when it took years for book 4 to come out. I got sooo frusterated, that I told myself I would not read the series till all seven books were done. When they were, I started over and read the entire series. It was a great escape, but the ending, come on. I won't spoil it for you if you havn't read his Tower books, but I recommend them.

I just finished "A Quiet War" by Paul McAuley, which was a literary space opera that was political with a bunch of characters that were shades of grey, meaning, had both good and bad qualities to them, making the book more complex, but it was really good. I then finished yesterday, my token literature book, "Eyeless in Gaza" by Aldous Huxley. Huxley is one of my all time favorite authors and this was the last book by him that I had yet to read. There are a couple out of print books that I'm still missing from my collection, but that's O.K. I highly recommend reading him if you havn't. His best known book is the dysutopian "Brave New World", but in my opinion, his best book is "Point Counter Point". I'm now reading "The Science Fiction Hall of Fame, Vol. 3" which is an extremely rare book. I came across it at a used bookstore for 50 cents, what a catch. This book of short stories and novellas comprises the nebula winners from 1965-1969. Next up, an Asimov book, can't go wrong there. Anyway, hope to hear from ya soon, Bryan.

Hey friends you are the part of Group – Little Master Sachin Tendulkar. It is the group where the souls from different countries get together by putting their thoughts in the form of discussions. Every weekend new discussion gets posted regarding to any sports event or any movie review. And the crazy part is the abstract topics where you don’t have to think much and just need to respond idiotically. I hope you get participated soon to your international friends.
