Hi and thanks for visiting :)
I'm a 40-something web applications developer (more interesting than it sounds - honestly!) living in sunny Cornwall in the UK. My reading passion seems to ebb and wane like the moon, with weeks of hardly reading a thing and others when I seem to devour books and spend whole days engrossed in any number of tales. My tastes range from fantasy and sci-fi to the odd biography, sneaking passing thrillers and spy novels and bounding through adventures on the way. I often have a few books "on the go" too, and can happily put aside a novel with a bookmark in it for a few months before I get back to it again, usually without needing a recap.
Certain stories are like old friends, and they get invited round for a cozy evening every so often, giving me great comfort in their presence and familiarity. I'd be lost if I could never again read the first few chapters of David Edding's "Pawn of Prophecy", for example. I can almost smell the bread in Aunt Pol's kitchen whenever I read that, and I can sit under the table with Garion and enjoy the peace of that gentle beginning, unaware of the great adventure that will follow. That's soul food for me.
