Hi Anastasia. I just found out you're a fellow Dr. Who-fan? Who's your favorite doctor? Mine is the 10th, played by David Tennant. I think he definitely was the best and I was very sad to see him go.

    Keep on reading!
    Greetings, Monique

I read Journey to the Center of the Earth when I was just a boy (8th grade). I loved it then, as I did any book by Jules Verne. Verne was a marvelous science fiction writer of the late 1800s, and his books are still good. However, if one is completely obsessed with modern Sci-Fi fantasy, they might find Verne's stories boring and old fashioned. I'd recommend that you read Jules Verne simply gain knowledge of the writing style of one of our world's early sci-fi storytellers. I think you'll like it.

Based on the other books you've read and enjoyed, I think you would like The Last Olympian as well as all the previous Percy Jackson books very much.

Hi Anastasia, I realize that for many people The Shack can be controversial. However, I found it had a very deep message especially about the love God has for us and forgiveness. I enjoyed it very much. If you choose to read it, be sure you stick with it to the end. Le me know what you think. You can reach me on my blog,http://focuswithmarlene.blogspot.com/

You asked about Outlander. It is a very good series, but be aware there are some very explicite sex scenes between Jamie and his jailer.

Hi Anastasia, You asked about Outlander. Diana Gabeldon is a college professor. Her research skills are exceptional. Outlander is a combination of historical fiction, romance, and paranormal (in that it involves time travel). Outlander is the first in a series of six books that follows the lives of the same characters. This happens to be my favorite book. If you have a romantic soul you will love Jamie and Claire!

In my opinion you should definetely read 1984. It's very well written and it portrays very well a society where more and more we are living in, where everything is controlled. Very good!

Hi Anastasia, You asked if you should read The Historian. Yes, it fits in to the tenor of many of the books you've already read. I see you are planning to read American Gods. I recommend that one too.

    Dear Anastasia:
You also asked about "The Princess Bride". I found it delightful. But it is a pastiche on classic fairy tale romances. It is written to be both fantastic and funny. In my opinion, it succeeds on both counts.
Thanks again for visiting my shelf and asking my advice.
