Hello fellow book lovers! My goal here is to try to write a review for every book I read...not necessarily a "great" review, but I'll do my best. I love books with a little mystery, suspense, action, romance, angst, or a general overlaying dark theme/element, but am always willing to try something new. I've currently been really getting into... more »

Thought you might be interested in a reading challenge for the year that may provide you with some excellent book suggestions. Here's the link.

Have you finished The Great Gatsby yet young lady? I bet you gave up, didn't you? Can't say I blame ya.

I was browsing the shelf of a new friend yesterday and came across a book I read as a freshman that I don't remember much about except that I was surprised that I liked reading it......Rebecca. I think I'm gonna read that one for April.

I read an interesting book for a book club this month....She's Come Undone by Wally Lamb. It's definately not something I would have just picked up on my own but I liked it. It was different.

    What are you reading?

So I finished Gatsby on Saturday. At 90% into the book something finally happens and it got a little exciting. Well, maybe not exciting, but at least interesting. I will say that it wasn't until the very end of the book that I actually cared about/felt sorry for Gatsby. And it wasn't until the end of the book that I decided I liked Nick a little.
I'm sure if I took the time to read cliff notes all the symbolism would come together and maybe the book would make more sense. But honestly, I don't really care.

Let's take a classic break but then I think Streetcar Named Desire would be good. It's another one that I "read" in highschool. And at least it has a good movie to go with it (mmmmmmm, Marlon Brando).

Just for kicks and giggles I read some of the reviews of Great Gatsby. People are so full of themselves; what a bunch of hooey.

This book is painfully boring. Thankfully, it's short. And then I can mark a classic off my list. :)

I don't plan to attempt another "classic" until next month. If you want to try to read another one as well let's pretty please pick something with a plot. Or at least something with a good movie to go with it....like Streetcar Named Desire!

Um, yeah, just over half-way through it so if you're not there yet.......

How beautiful does a freakin' shirt have to be to make you cry? Seriously. I think I may pick up some cliff notes for this one because maybe I'm missing the big picture here....

We are alwasy so similar in our feelings and opinions on books but you articulate so much better than I do.....I felt the same way with Mockingjay!!

I kindof whizzed through the first 40% or so of Gatsby but lately it's been slow going....I don't think I'm quite half-way there.

I dont love it or hate it; its kinda just something to read. Its very close to the movie. I think whats really missing is a likable character. Of coarse I'm only at 30% right now.

Okay....starting Gatsby today (fingers crossed that it's way better than the movie).

I know how you feel about Mockingjay....the last book of a series is always kinda bittersweet, and with this series you know that you aren't guaranteed the HEA. It was gritty and shocking all the way to the end for me, but I wasn't disappointed.

I've been in a PNR slump for the better part of a year. All of a sudden it all seems so....redundant. But I've always enjoyed the darkness of the Demonica series. When does the new BDB come out? That series has taken a turn more towards UF and I think that has helped sustain it.
