Aw, I loved it, as I do all of her books. I did feel like hitting some people when suddenly everything was going wrong, but I knew it would be allright, it always is. I was surprised at how quickly everything happened at the end: DISASTER DISASTER - sort it out in 1 page - THE END!

Kirkwall was fine, we even got some snow for once! But then my cousins in England are literally snowed in! They can't even get the car out to buy food! They're ok though, they can walk :) I have just started reading a book called 'Stolen' by Lucy Christopher. It was a christmas present, and as you can guess from the title, it is about kidnap. It is a bit scary and I have already had a nightmare about Nicholas being stolen :( But in the book it is a stupid teenager who flirts with a stranger who then kidnaps her!!!! I mean, I kind of like him better than her... he just wanted company and she keeps attacking him.... although, it must be pretty scary for her. He's taken her to the Australian Outback, and they are literally in the middle of nowhere, so she can not possibly escape. The weird thing about the book is that is written in the 2nd person, as if she's addressing her captor, telling him what happened and what she thought much later. "You came towards me, and I threw the knife at you with all my force.." or something like that. Anyway, it's gripping and thrilling, and I'm enjoying it :)
    What about you?

I just finished, and I really liked it. Eva Ibbotson is always a guaranteed fairytale ending, but it doesn't come until right at the end. Also, I completely could't guess how the happy ending was going to come, so it was a surprise. I was so frustrated that he was being all gentelmanly and marrying her anyway even though he realised he didn't love her, and he'd fallen in love with her by accident, thinking she loved opera! But I was glad he chucked her in the end, and even did it in a way that did not hurt her, because she was all too eager to run off to Lord Frith when she thought he'd gone bankrupt. I thought that was very clever of him. You can tell I liked it, by the way I'm ranting on!

At the moment I am reading War and Peace.
My dad gave it to me for my 10th birthday but I was too young to read it then,
because it is really an adult book, and it is also quite slow-moving, with lots of detail that you might think unneccesary.
It is a literary classic though, and the style of writing is superb, so I am really enjoying it.
Also, I have seen the movie
(well, movies, it is so long that there are many episodes. Even the book is in two volumes)
so that makes the slow pace less boring, because I remember most of it from the movie.

Apart from that, my homeroom teacher (form teacher) said he'll bring in Wuthering Heights for me...
I was kind of surprised, because he does not strike me as the literary type.
But then I am sort of discovering a whole new side to him, a very creative one.
He brought in poetry to the lesson and was really quite reflective about it.
I guess it really is a case of not judging a book by its cover, since his cover is more of a surfer-dude guy!

Yes, it was very... interesting. It was also rather creepy.
Not my FAVOURITE kind of book, but definitely a good read if you want something really alternative.
Thankyou for calling me on my birthday, that was such a nice surprise!

    Hey!! :)
Yeah, I have had those Eva Ibottson books on my shelf for ages, and I keep meaning to read them. I am actually making a collection of those books by Eva Ibottson! Anyway, I won't be able to read it this time because I am going back to Vienna soon and there is no room in my case for them! The trouble is I should read them while I'm in Kirkwall, but when I am I just end up reading so many library books because I LOVE the Kirkwall library, so many wonderful books (like Mortal Engines, which I read recently, absolutely thrilling book!!!)
Good luck in form 5, and keep reading! ;)

Hey I created the book "Breathing underwater" that you read. I really liked it, it was so sweet and sad, but happy at the same time. I couldn't get the picture to go on properly, but it's on my shelf if you want to add it :)

I loved it! I really like the style it is written in, and learning about one of England's most famous monarchs! By the way, did you manage to get a copy of it? I hope so! Its really good!
