Hi,
I'm Rachel and I'm excited about my upcoming Young Adult novella entitled; A Slip In The Right Direction.
This YA is a coming-of-age book (part 1 of a series) that's geared towards young males age 12-16. The story deals with a young man living in Chicago, hating his environment but trying to deal. One evening he's in a store owned by some friends, and a young lady he has a crush on, when it is robbed by gang members. He's taken hostage and thus begins the road of self survival and self discovery. This young man is forced to decide between the family values he's been taught or partaking of the fast life presented forcefully upon him. This story also deals with puppy love, wanting of a father’s approval and affection, sibling rivalry, peer pressure, problems between parents and a few other physical and emotional issues young men are faced with at this age.
In the end the young man has discovered many things not only about himself but his parents and sister as well. We watch him grow up and also learn with him about a special "power" he possesses. This young man also goes on to touch the lives of people in his community and teach a friend a few things as well.

I feel like a spirit in constant transition. I'm thankful to be gifted with the blessings of being a creation of God and crowned as a daughter, mother, wife, grandmother, and many other personal roles. From the heart & soul of me I cherish these gifts. My soulful stitchies also include writer, published author & poet, motivational speaker, mentor, and sister-friend. I'm always glad to make new positive and motivated friends and become a part of their exciting journey. I love words and the power they have.
I love to read; though I don't get to as much as I'd like. I have a growing library at home. Please feel free to suggest a good read. I especially enjoy books that are about real life, love, learning, and the challenges and celebrations that we all face.
Here's to a new beginning between you & I.
