I am a bookcollector, collecting books that have received local/international awards. No books from Noble prize winners unless a specific book is rewarded ofcourse. But anything that received an award, from Gouden Griffels (Netherlands),Man Booker to Newbery Medals for Children's books, signed books and photo's from the winners, different... more »

The first chapters the story was so slow that I was about to lay the book down, when it finally became more interesting. I hope the next episode which I am going to read now will be better!

A very poetic, but easy to read book about coming out, discovering what it is to be gay, gay life in the arab world.

I must say, I love British humor, although I must say that these stories mroe and more become something of a time-piece, and some it's humor won't be understood by all people nowadays. Still it is always nice to read Wodehouse's stories. I remember having read them when I was young in my onw language, Dutch. But it is always better to read in the orriginal language. Look forward to read the next Jeeves!

  • Wat niemand weet

Actually I would rate it 2 and a half stars, but since that is impossible I make it 3. The story is a bit weird, even though it is interwoven with the Biblical story of Noah and the Ark. I think the drawings are nice and makes it a nice book to read to the little ones, still it is not one of the best issues I have seen for the week of children books

The written words ware not really interesting although it tells children something about being alone as well as having friends. The drawings ofcourse are great.

Partly it has to do with the translation which I did not like, but in general I think it was a weak story, with only a short part which was interesting. I did not like the characters, and I think that with the same facts someone like Agatha Christie or even Georgia Evans would have done better.... sorry

  • Charisma
    • Rated 3 stars

Though first and most of all the word "Charisma" is explained, the author continues writing about the charisma of especially Oddyseus. It is a nice introduction towards the classic books we should read, but at moments I was wondering if she was explaining the meaning of the word or trying to give us an introduction to Homer.
Still her links also with life as it is today is quite interesting. Anyway, it is a gift. A free book you get when buying a book about the classic history. And free gifts are always welcome. Still, I would reccomend it to people who have never read anything from the classics, not even for school...

  • Grenzen aan de vrijheid. Van De Sade tot Wilders
    • Rated 3 stars

    • Rated 3 stars

With so much humor writing about such troubles and sorrows going on in one family is a gift that not many authors posess. Add the fact that the person talking to you is actually a boy who is just born as a baby and at the end is only 4 is a mircale in itself, but explains the ways he sees life.
At times the language is a bit hard, foul, but still it is true: a giften author is talking here, and a book has been written that deserves to be read more than one time.
