Brother, where are you? We really need you in the Alexandria Forum - which is to say I really need your insights.
In the name of God, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.[17:14](It will be said to him:) "Read thine (own) record: Sufficient is thy soul this day to make out an account against thee."the same verse translated by Yusef Ali
Salam, sorry but I have found the discussion you have started about free will very interesting to the extent I could not prevent my self from participating but I could not as I'm not a member;what you have said is true to some extent that is why Our deeds are judged by their intentions, because God is just .the same deed could be judged differently from person to person according to our intentions when we do it or did not do itbut there are some facts which you did not take in consideration we humans have but limited knowledge of the outside while the inner we almost have no knowledge about if not only fewand the abilities given to our inner souls we can not knew exactly to what extent they have a power or freedom to overcome the conditions we think are imposed on us by different means .in the day of judgment we shall knew our true inner reality and we shall see things as truly they are without shadows or illusions and more of that we our self we shall have an account of our deeds as we shall knew when we have no choice even if it same we have and when we had really a choice even when it same we have not; the most astonishing and frightening is that we shall be just with our self to the extent to condemn it !that is what God mean here in this holy verse from the holy Quran:[17:14] translation of Mohamad asad[and he will be told:] "Read this thy record! Sufficient is thine own self today to make out thine account!"--------------------------------------------------------------------------------* v.14 : The “record” and the subsequent “account” represent man’s total comprehension, on Judgment Day, of all his past life (Rāzī). This allegory occurs in the Qur’ān in many formulations, e.g., in 37:19 or 39:68, and perhaps most incisively in 50:22 – “now We have lifted from thee thy veil, and sharp is thy sight today!”--------I seek refuge on Allah from being left to my own soul I fear not the judgment of my God as I knew he is merciful and just I fear my soul and I seek refuge on Allah from being left to my soul both in this life and the other life, the soul which have an account against one's deeds is that of the one who do not trust Allah's justice so God will gave him the opportunity to see the witness of his own soul is there any justice more than thatbut those who trust their lord and hope in his mercy and grace and knew he is always just will ask his mercy and his pardon and won't even think in allowing their souls to make their own account our selves are the real enemy in this life and the hereafterand God because of his mercy and grace he provide us with his guidance at every moment in our life so when we make any choice we are really given an opportunity to make the right one by some sign God provide us some times we only ignore and our illusion make us believe we had no choice other but yet because of God's mercy and grace as much as we are alive he accept our returning to him when ever we return to him in repentance no matter how many mistakes we have done or how much we have sinned as much as we are still in life the door of repentance is opened and he accept always our returning to him
You should have no concern that we will disagree fundamentally because you attack certain Torah laws. The Rabbis did the same many years ago in the BT - in fact, they effectively defined many such laws out of existence. I do think that we have differences in perspective, which I will address shortly in the Alexandrian Forum, but I find that when thinking people disagree honestly and with understanding of where the other person is "coming from" there is disagreement only over nonessentials and agreement over the delights of working through such issues. So I expect it will be with thee and me.
yep! you can also join in any of the on going discussions
Ahhh ! So you are on line:)
