Finally learned to read in 5th grade and loved it since then, before that it was a horrible, painful experience. In 7th grade the teachers ganged up on me and would not let me read in class anymore. Guess I was making up for lost time by reading two books a day at that point. After the ban on book reading in class, I had to resort to staying up for days over the week-ends and reading all night, catch two or three hours of sleep, then off to school and later on to work. I have learned (forced myself really) to just put the book down and pick it up later, but that seems so unnatural by going against my instinct to read it all in one sitting. Also leaves me with many partilly read books sitting around. My dream of retirement is to be able to have access to all books and time to read them when ever I want.
