Just finished Black Water Rising by Attica Locke - her debut book and yes she was named for the Attica riots - she is African-American and the story takes place in Texas during the 1980's - the main character being an African-American lawyer whose wife is pregnant and while he took her on a anniversary dinner boat ride on the local river, they heard gun shots and a woman screaming and ultimately pulled a white woman out of the water - a great story of politics and corruption from DC down.............a good read. Am now reading The Angel's Game by Carlos Ruiz Zafon, which was translated from Spanish - set in Barcelona in 1917 - main character writes sensationalist novels about the dark and the underground - he moves into a "house" to write his novel - does he write or does the house dictate to him- am only on page 101 so I have the entire story ahead of me - the best part I'm sure
