Mom, the book of the year winner for 2011 is the Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society! I just loved that book and I didn't want it to end! The other 5's were definitely contenders and I had more trouble picking the winner this year than ever before!

I am giving out a lot of fives this year...that is going to make choosing Book of the Year tough! I still have 1 month to go which means I might even get another contender!

Yes, but I'm not sure how many more contenders I will be getting this late in the year! I already have quite a few on my shelf, I don't want to be greedy! Miss you!

    Hi Sue,
I picked up "The Shut Mouth Society" based on your shelf and this type of book- historical fiction but an easy read- is my favorite kind of book...
It's just so coincidental that Lincoln's 12 day ride in Feb. 1860 from Illinois to DC is being enacting this month by an Lincoln impersonator I met
,in SD with Mary Allison, while visiting the Black Hills and Mt. Rushmore. Lincoln's stop in Harrisburg was on Feb. 22, 1860 and the re actment will
be here on Feb. 22(at our Civil war museum) this year- just before he heads on NY where Lincoln delivers his Copper Union speech- which the book is based upon. Talk about winkie-dinks!!
Hope all is well with you. Fondly, Barb

I think I already told you this, but in case you forgot...The Book of the Year for 2010 was Katherine by Anya Seton. I just loved that book. There were many other contenders, but that one really stuck out!

That it is.... But now that I finished "Loving Frank" I find that I am once again looking for another book to read..... Have you read "The Book Thief"? If not, I highly recommend it and saw in the paper today that the author will be speaking in March on our area. Happy New Year!!!!!

    Hi Sue,
I love your reviews which I never take the time to do- may have to change that! I also love historical novels and you have become my "go to" for researching new ones!!Your reads are so varied and interesting. However, I loved Forever- one of my all time favorites-
Hope you had a Happy Thanksgiving. Fondly, Barb G.

Yes, but it took a bit over three weeks!! I am not reading as much as before. Not sure why ... might be my mid-afternoon naps.
