Ahh... When I remember Dark Hunter... Thanks to it I got into all adult-only books. Ash, Kyrian and Zarek are my favourite. Night Huntres is on my to read list because I heard that Bones is a hottie and I can't wait to read it.
I'm more for a longer books or series. I don't like short ones because just when I get into it, it's over. Have you read LotU, Highlander or Brotherhood of blood?
Yeah, V is the first one that popped in my mind when I saw it.

Hi Athenna, I'm glad to hear that the Shayla Black Doomsday Bretheren series is good and am going to see if I can get any copies from our library. I've almost finished Rachel Vincent's Midnight's Daughter and found the book really dark. I'll let you know if the Fallen series is any good as it's on everyones shelves practically lol Hopefully they'll be as good as everyone says they are.

Take care Athenna and keep in touch, bye!

Hi Athenna, thanks for giving me the name of your blog, I shall most certainly check it out. I checked the libray for the Mercy Thompson books but they have odd ones missing in the first five books, which is a bummer. I'm going to have to invest in them myself at some point. I've just finished reading Chloe Neill's Chicagoland Vampire books which were fun and am now reading Karen Chance's Dorina Basarab series. Ther are only two books in this series though so I'm hoping to finally get my hands on Lauren Kate's Fallen series which I've been meaning to read for ages. Have you read any of the books I've mentioned?

How are you getting on with the Shayla Black Doomsday Bretheren series?

I always read a few books at a time.

I am loving Pale Demon. You should move it up your list for sure.
I am loving the brothers. I have no idea why I waited so long to read them. I just started them like 2 weeks ago. I wasn't a big fan of Phury's book either.

Royal Blood is by Rona Sharon. It's set in tudor court of 1518 and has vampires in it. But I haven't gotten that far yet. I don't think it's a series.

I've been wanting to read Seduce me in shadow. I might have to move it up my list.

Hi Athenna, yes, I'll certainly let you know my thoughts on the Soul Screamers series. I shall read them closer to the end of the month as the 3rd book comes out in April so I won't interrupt the flow. If you read your copy before me, then please let me know your thoughts.

I'm going to try to get the Mercy Thompson from the library if I can. Thanks for telling me they are good. Have you read the Morgan Kingsley series? I've just ordered all five books. The Accidental series by Dakota Cassidy sound like fun! I shall see if I can acquire those too as I love light/humour reads once in a while. I've not heard of Jennifer Ashley's Primal Bonds - I shall have to look it up. Have you read her Immortal's series?

Incidently whats the name of your blog, I shall have to have a peek at him when I have the chance. Anyway, it's been great chatting to you Athenna, keep in touch, Bye! x

Nisareen - So Much To Read So Little Time says

Hi Athenna, well I finally went out on a limb and brought the first two books in the Soul Screamers series. The third one comes out in March so it's not such a long wait. I'll let you know if I live to regret splashing out on my modest earnings or not lol

Please don't be put off by Awakened as I would not want you to be put off by something I myself have not even read yet. There are mixed views about it from people who've read it, some good some bad. After reading so many you and I are already invested in the series so it would be a shame to not follow them through to the end. I purchased the last four books in hardback even! lol If you get your hands on a copy before me then I would appreciate your thoughts on it.

I'm so pleased to hear that the Morganville series hasn't gone downhill. Thats quite a feat when you think about it as the author must be doing something right after 10 books. Have you read her Weather Warden series or Outcast series? I haven't myself.

I know what you mean about certain books being really good despite the excess sex scenes, thats why sometimes I've felt compelled to add them to my 'to read' list regardless. The BDB series, Lords of the Underworld, Night Huntress, Dark Hunters and Demonica series look too good to pass up! I hope to have read them all before the year is finished. I'm looking forward to chatting to you about them too.

I've had the Mercy Thompson books on my shelf for ages too, have you read them all? Would you say they were worth buying if I'm not able to get them from the library?

How are you getting on with Nightkeepers? The final Prophecy series seriously looks good. I'm always keen for recommendations Athenna, so if there's anything you think is really good then please don't hesitate to let me know even if there are too many sex scenes. I'll just skip a couple of pages ahead if I have to! lol

Anyway chat to you very soon Athenna, take care, bye x

Nisareen - So Much To Read So Little Time says

Hi Athenna, I loved Rachel Vincent's writing too, I'm contemplating buying her Soul Screamers series as the library only has the first book in. Have you read them? I've heard good things about them from other readers. I'm glad you enjoyed Nightkeepers and will let you know when I'm able to acquire the series so we can swap notes on our favourite characters etc.

Twilight is what renewed my interest in reading too. I used to read alot as an adoloscent but didn't have so much time after my two boys were born. Then one day I stumbled upon the Twilight saga and luckily Breaking Dawn had just been released so I didn't have to wait between books. After I'd gobbled the Twilight Saga up, I read the Morganville's followed by the House of Night and then later Kelley Armstrong's Women Of The Otherworld series. Since then I've not looked back!

I agree with your views on the House of Night books. Personally I thought the first four books were really good but the other books were not as good. I loved Heath, Stevie Rae and Aphrodite. I've heard that the character of Aphrodite has gone bad again since, which I'm disappointed about. The Morganville's are better I think although I haven't read the last four books so I hope they've not gone downhill since as well. Sometimes the author drags the books on for too long in the name of profit and quality suffers I think.

I've been watching the Vampire Diaries tv show but I agree with you - the books are better. I'm waiting the release of The Return: Midnight and I hope to read them from the beginning as I've not read The Return trilogy yet and I want to read the other books so I can recap. I have a soft spot for Damen too! lol

I've not read Last Sacrifice yet but I hope to in the last couple of weeks. Yes, I've heard of a spin off of the characters too so it should be great. Hopefully Adrian will feature in them as it would be nice to see him settled with someone.

I also agree with your views on the Blue Bloods - something was missing with these books but I never could put my finger on it. I don't know if it was the fallen angel angle or if it was the writing? They aren't in my top 5 but like you I want to know what will happen so I've kept up to date with them. I purchased Misguided Angel a couple of weeks ago and hope to read that very soon.

The first book in the Evernight book WAS slow Athenna. I had all three books on hand so I read them all in one go. The thing with a series though, is that one becomes invested in the characters once you've read three or four books. The same applies to the Evernight series, the third book ended in such a way that one has to see how the books will pan out.

The Southern Vampire books are the Sookie Stackhouse books. They are loosely based on the True Blood series but the books are waaaaaay better. Yes, I liked the werewolves in the Women of The Otherworld books too. The books featuring Jaime Vegas were ok too, I like female leads who come across as sassy and brave.

I love the Vampire Memories books by Barb Hendee Athenna. She's done a great interpretation on the vampire mythology.

    1. Whenever a vampire kills a human and drains their life force - they see images of the human's life as they are drinking from them.
    2. When a vampire dies, their sire feels pain.

The series consists of three books. The first book is called Vampire Memories:

Eleisha Clevon has the face of a teen angel, but she is no angel. Unlike most vampires, she doesn’t like to kill, but self-preservation comes first. When an old friend destroys himself by walking into sunlight right in front of her, Eleisha is shocked. And what she finds afterwards points to how very sick of his existence her friend had become—piling drained corpses in the basement and keeping records of other vampires’ real names and addresses. That’s a problem. Because now, there are policemen on the case: two very special humans with some gifts of their own. They know who Eleisha is, and, even more dangerous, what she is.

The second book is called Hunting Memories:

Eleisha Clevon has begun a correspondence with fellow vampire Rose de Spenser. Both reluctant predators, they venture outside only when the hunger becomes unbearable, trying not to draw attention to themselves—and feel guilty when ending human lives. But Eleisha has learned a way to draw blood from her victims without killing them. She wants to share this knowledge with like-minded vampires and create a haven where they can exist together—and forge a united front against Julian Ashton, a vampire who has been hunting down and destroying his own kind…

The third book is called Memories of Envy:

A reluctant predator, Eleisha Clevon has made home for herself and other vampires like her in Portland. And, in spite of the risks, she is determined to locate all vampires still existing in isolation, so she might offer them sanctuary — and more importantly, so she can teach them to feed without killing. To Eleisha's shock, she learns that a lost vampire may be living as close as Denver, Colorado... but she has to approach this one more carefully than ever before. Simone Stratford is a beautiful, delicate-looking creature from the roaring twenties who enjoys playing elaborate games with mortals, stoking their passion for her before finally draining them of their blood. When Eleisha and her protector, Philip Branté, go to Denver in search of Simone, what they find is far worse — and more seductive — than either one bargained for. Philip’s love for Eleisha and his ability to fit into her world are pushed to the breaking point, as is Eleisha’s fierce belief in her own mission.

I've not read the third book yet though. I'm looking at your favourites list Athenna, I've not read any of the ones you've mentioned but I've heard of them all and how good they are. They are all on my wishlist. I own the BDB series but haven't read them yet. I plan to indulge myself one of these days. The only thing that puts me off a bit are excessive sex scenes. I prefer them in moderation. I had a peek at Dark Lover (BDB) and they had sex upon their second meeting! I don't know - perhaps I'm becoming a prude in my old age ha!

I've run out of time Athenna, but I'll explain all about the Wierdsville, Tradd Street and Darke Academy series in my next note I promise. Please remind me on in case I forget. Have a great weekend though and let me know how you get on with the Dragon Warrior books. Bye!

Hmmm...okay, thanks for letting me know...I will put them a little higher on the list and see when I'm going to read this series.

The first Anna Strong book has a lot of information, but I like it. I'm not that far in the second book, but it's very promising. I'll let you know later on this weekend, when I'm done.

I’m glad to hear you like it too. Jennifer Ashley is a great author and I love her books. You are right Jessa was awesome, she has real character telling him to like it or not….take it or leave it…LOL…

I’ve heard of this series by Janet Chapman, but I haven’t read it yet. I believe I have the first book in this series on the shelves….Let me know who the second book turns out, maybe I will squeeze the books higher on my TBR list.

Currently I’m reading the second book Blood Drive in the Anna Strong Series by Jeanne C. Stein and so far I like it.

Hi Athenna, I apologise for the late reply. I've finished reading the Shifter series since my last note and was pleased with the ending although I wish the author hadn't finished it so abruptly. We never got to see Faythe officially accepted by the Territorial Council for example. I loved Jace too and didn't want to see him hurt when Faythe chose Marc but I'm glad she didn't resolve the love triangle by killing him off or something.

I had not heard of the Final Prophecy series before you mentioned Nightkeepers in your note. I'd appreciate it if you'd let me know your opinion of the book when you've finished it and whether or not you'd recommned it. It certainly sounds exciting.

I'm a big fan of the Morganville's too! I own every single book but haven't read past Carpe Corpus yet. I'm an Amelie and Myrnin fan. I'm waiting for the release of Bite Club and plan to read them from the beginning as I read them back in 2009 and can't remember where I left off plot wise. Have you read the House Of Night, Sookie Stackhouse novels or the Vampire Academy books?

I have loads of favourites Athenna. For example:
    The Twilight series
    The Morganville Vampire series
    The House Of Night series
    The Vampire Memories series
    The Vampire Diaries series
    The Vampire Academy series
    The Blue Bloods series
    The Southern Vampire Mysteries
The Women of The Otherworld series
    The Evernight series
    The Wierdsville series
    The Darke Academy series
    The Tradd Street series

Have you read any of these? I'd love to hear your favourites too and any recommendations. Whats your favourite genre? Anyway it's been great chatting with you Athenna, have a great weekend and chat soon. Bye!
