I live on the central coast of California about a mile from the beach. Contrary to what you might expect, the summers here are usually cool and overcast, which is fine with me as I'm originally from Western Washington State.

I enjoy reading good fiction but find as I've grown older (I'm in my early 60's) I tend to read more non-fiction, poetry and essays.

There are more books than time, so I don't generally read mysteries, crime or romance. I'm staying away from the political; I'm still traumatized by 8 years of Bushco. « less
