I belong to a very diverse reading group. We meet about once a month to enjoy one another's company, eat and discuss the books we've selected. For the most part we do read the books chosen but it's not a major factor to belonging to our group. My favorite genre is historical fiction or young adult literature.     I started watching All My Children when I graduated high school and felt it fitting that Susan Lucci's biography needed to be the book for this month. Haven't watched a soap opera in over twenty years but I enjoyed reading about Susan's life.

    The story line kept me reading but I disliked the 'cutting' rituals...but it gives me an insight to how some kids may view this act...it opens the door to sharing both the book and my students' points of view.
