I belong to a very diverse reading group. We meet about once a month to enjoy one another's company, eat and discuss the books we've selected. For the most part we do read the books chosen but it's not a major factor to belonging to our group. My favorite genre is historical fiction or young adult literature. When they're combined I get giddy! I teach social studies and like to keep abreast of what my students are reading. I will often share a scene or passage from a Mark Twain award book in my lessons to hook students who might not otherwise pick up a book. Stephen King books have been known to scare me senseless and story lines with gruesome killing scenes turn me off of a book. I love to read and our book club has helped me expand my interests! « less
