Great! Just let me know on the claims thread which ones you want to work (or feel free to claim 'em all, lol) and then fire away! And remember -- if there are titles that you want to work that aren't on the list I can add them, as long as they're SF. :)
Oooo, family tree projects are fun! Good luck with yours!Just let me know if you're interested. . . a lot of the books don't even require that much work -- the editing function has been available long enough that popular books already have much of the information filled in. The main thrust of the group's effort is just in combining all the duplicate titles in the catalog and getting the editions tabs cleaned up -- and since we're not generally working with titles in the public domain most of the time the editions tab isn't too onerous a task. Any help you can provide would be welcome!--Phoenix
Hey!So I was wondering. . . are you interested in a little book editing project? (Okay, "little" may be a bit of a misnomer. . .) I've just taken over as co-admin for a group that's working on cleaning up all the books on the Science Fiction group's shelf, and I'm looking for people to help us out. It's not much of a committment -- I don't bug people unless they haven't said anything in the group threads in 3 months, lol -- and you pick the books you want to work on yourself, so you can just edit whatever SF novel you're reading at the moment. If you're at all interested, please check the group out (http://www.shelfari.com/groups/51004/about) and if you like what you see let me know and I'll invite you to join. If nothing else, it'll beef up your editing numbers! :)Thanks!Phoenix
Never mind - I see that you have taken care of it. Good thing as I forgot to include the Series URL in my note!!Thanks so much,BC
Norman,If you are just using this to help find things to combine them, don't forget to edit it down to zero books so that it goes away.If you are using it as a personal list that you wish to maintain, I'm gonna ask you to, again, zero the books down. Use tags for that purpose instead of a series record.OK?Thanks,BC
I think I found the life & times problems too.We have repeatedly requested a "review" step prior to submitting a combine request. Keep your fingers crossed that that feature makes it into the development plan.On second thought...It might be difficult for you to type with your fingers crossed. ~smile~Thanks for all the hard work to clean up the catalog,BC
Hi Norman,I may have misunderstood but your request to combine Moorcock's The Final Program had 3 editions listed that appear to be colllections of stories other than this one. I rejected those 3 but did combine the remaining one.If I missed something, resubmit. Thanks!BC
You are more than welcome! You do not have to participate in the book-of-the months to be active in the group! I only started it becuase it was time for some of us to re-read the different series and we decided to do it together. She did write: Catalyst: A Tale of Barqu Cats that is new and science fiction... if that peaks your interest. It came out in January 2010. I haven't heard too much but that it is alright.

Hello Norman! You have some great books on your shelf... and I'm excited to see some of Anne McCaffrey's stuff! I am the Admin of the Anne McCaffrey group here on Shelfari and I'd love for you to come and check it out and see what we're about.http://www.shelfari.com/groups/43659/aboutI would appreciate your input on the books we have already read as a group (The Dragon Riders of Pern Trilogy). We read one of Anne's books a month together to get discussions going and this month is The Rowan. We will finish up March 15th and move onto Damia we go from the 15th to the following 15th. The group is also talking about a lot more than just Anne's worlds, what else we're currently reading, watching, cooking... doing! Come check out the group and I hope you'll join us!Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks and Happy Hump Day!Camerron
Thank you for your helpful recommendation on "Night Watch." TIM
Hi Norman,Re your request to combine Asimov's Foundation...Looks good. Because 1000+ Shelfari members have this book, the request will be managed manually to avoid a system-performance hit during that process. It may be a while before you see the approval show up on your edits list.Didn't want you to think the request was being ignored!BC
