In response to your public message, my long experience is with black teenagers and children, I'm now in a predominately Hispanic school. I have not read it yet but will purchase Fiesta Dress right away. Someone told our group in e-mail that it is a wonderful book for Hispanic children dealing, as it does, with a child observiing an older sibling getting ready for her Quinceneara. Thank you for telling your plans. I'll have that to share.
Hi, Kathy, and thanks for the input. I notice that we agreed about Defiance and the others I have read. I'll definitely leave Highway Cats to last. This helps! And I'll read Lemonade War and Brendan Buckley next.Wishing you a great new school year!Carol
