    Richard,
Thank you so much! The simplicity of what you wrote really appealed to me; it seemed to get to the heart of the matter. The little I had read before about mediation seemed more of a complex set of instructions on breathing, which seemed more stressful than relaxing. The evening I read this I immediately tried what you said but found that my mind was busy to the point of hyperactivity. I realized that my mind was probably always this way- I just haven't realized it before. I have always prided myself for being analytical but I realized that most of my thoughts seemed to be this almost white noise that served no real purpose. Throughout my day I practiced clearing my mind. Instead of feeling like I was on auto-pilot because I wasn't "thinking", I found that I felt very connected, more appreciative and at peace. It feels that all of this endless chatter in my head has distracted me from who I am and life I wish to live. Instead of actually doing anything, I think that I have simply been reacting, and what I have felt/told myself may not be as unbiased, objective, and truthful as I first believed. Thank you for inspiring me. With deep gratitude and warmth, Karen :-)

Hi, I noticed that you also read The Art of Happiness, a book that I loved. I find that I am being drawn closer and closer to mediation and wanting to practice yoga. I wondered if you might be able to point me in the direction of some good books on either of these. Thank you for taking the time to read my message. :-) Karen
