As they say simplicity is the ultimate sophistication and that’s why I like to think of myself as a simple being. :P
Photography - Well, the journey has just begun for me. There is a lot left to learn in photography. I understand the very basics of how a camera works but still cannot use it as effectively and as efficiently as I would have liked to. I have very naïve knowledge of lighting and textures or for that matter even about the kind of lenses to be used. So the good pictures I get are very sporadic. I’m currently using a Sony digicam, and in a way the scope is very limited. I think it’s better to start with a simple camera and accumulate enough knowledge and experience to go for a DSLR rather than going for it directly.
Slow and Steady, I still have a very long way to go.
Movies – how in the world did I forget to mention them! I literally live on movies; I watch at least one movie a day. There are too many favorites to write about, but off late I’ve been watching a lot of Stanley Kubrick movies. The Shining (horror), A Clockwork Orange, Dr. Strangelove (dark comedy), Lolita (drama), 2001: A space odyssey (science fiction), Full Metal jacket (war film). He’s covered all the genres with such excellence that only a few can match. A genius and an ultimate perfectionist, he spent years in research of the films and gave meticulous attention to every tiny detail. (He reportedly shot 1.3 million feet of film for the Shining!). If you haven’t watched any of his movies, do watch them. Highly recommended.
Books : I like reading Anton Chekhov, P G Wodehouse, Charles Dickens, Edgar Allan Poe, George Orwell, Douglas Adams to name a few. My favorites are: To kill a Mocking Bird, The Catcher in the Rye , Animal Farm, Nigh teen Eight Four, Oliver Twist, The jeeves and Wooster series ……
How about you? From your reviews I gather that you like reading Salman Rushdie, W. Somerset Maugham, Ayn Rand and you're a huge fan of the Harry Potter series, right?
PS: I'm really very sorry for the delay. I thought i would reply after my exams got over, but then it completely escaped my mind. I'd definitely be prompt from next time onwards.
First of all thanks for accepting the request. I was quite apprehensive about your response to the request.

Hmmm, you have an interesting point of view on this, but I've always saw this as a one sided love story. Yes, there was an obsessive love and it was all from Florentino so much so that he became a stalker. Fermina was never in love with Florentino even from the beginning. She was infatuated with the idea of this sort of forbidden love that has come into her life, and of course all young girls are drawn to doing something there father would never approve of. She fell in love with the letters not Florentino. This is evident when she finally comes face to face with Florentino in the market and realizes that she is not in love with this man. If you really love someone it doesn't just disapear all of a sudden. Even when she got older she still didn't love him as strongly as he loved her. When they got older they were able to develop a friendship outside of the letters from their youth and she grew to care about him, but she still was not in love with him. I think there was more of a love story between Fermina's husband and the black girl he started seeing. Do you have another point to make on this topic or do you want to discuss another book?
