you might enjoy THE KEEPER'S SON by Hickam...takes place on or near harker's island
Wow....looking at your "shelf" looks like my shelf. Recent reads for me: 'In the Heart of the Canyon"...not the best literature I've ever read but I liked it! I liked the characters. I love the whole Grand Canyon thing....""That Old Cape Magic"...again, not the best literature but the characters resonated for me, and I like Russo........."American Wife"--I really liked this (and I'm not a Bush fan) but I thought it was possibly very inciteful about Laura B. and probably many other political wives........"The Guernsey Literary...." how could you not love this? A story told through letters. Doesn't get any better.AND, "Half Broke Horses" was just brought to my attention so I need to alert my library. I'm lovin' this Shelfari connection with other readers!
IN THE HEART OF THE CANYON by Elisabeth Hyde is a novel but gives a fairly accurate account of the trip that Pret and kids took three years ago, although Pret went in a wooden boat not on a raft...a quick read.
