I love to read. The best stories are entertaining for young people and adults. The book is always, always better than the movie. I read from a broad range of categories, but my favorite area is children's stories.

I write something about every book I read; I wish more people would do the same. What I write isn't intended to be a review,... more »

It's quite hard to let Lina and Doon go. I emailed Jeanne Duprau and I told her that I love her books so much. She emailed me back and told me to stay tuned because she's currently working on a new book. But she made it clear that it's a NEW one. Thought I'd share it. :)

Thank you for the compliment, but, alas, I cannot claim the poem. It was uncredited on a poster that I have in my classroom, and I felt like it reflected my love of books. I did a little research and found that it is by Janice James. Thanks again for the message, and happy reading to you too.

Hello, Stan! I've often wondered whether the reviews I post on these books provide any lasting benefit to others (though I do enjoy writing them for the purposes of pushing my own understanding of the book). Thanks for the encouragement! :-)
BTW, I'm working on reading a lot of Russian Lit right now, so if you have any personal favorites among that genre, I'd love to hear your thoughts and suggestions regarding them.

We've been cut off from the world for the past week - only today internet was restored in Egypt. Thanks so much for asking, I'm ok & so is my family. But it has been horrible & it's not over yet, seems to be getting worse actually. We really need to remove this whole regime!

    I am inspired by you!

Stan....I own one of the Largest Music and Book Distributorships in this country. I have to read, 30-50 it seeems a month or every two weeks. I Have, in my personal Library, over 379,000 books, maybe more,
it's due to business necessity....So, I take no accolades for it. But, I have to keep it up, if not, then, I've
to give it up, and giving it up, is not why God gave it to me, in the first place!

But thanx, You are among the first to have noticed, in a very long time!

    Jass

    Thanx for the incouragement

So what you say that all the Caldecott Medal winners have in common. What makes a children's book good or special enough to win the medal?
