I've spent my whole life around books. My grandmother owned a bookstore way back when and I spent time there from the day I was born. It was also my grandmother who taught me to cherish and love books and treat them well. To this day I cannot make myself write in books or fold back pages. But it was my dad who would read to me at night, from... more »

hey. reading anything good lately. I haven't really been reading too much lately. I went crazy and got burnt out from reading so much. I took a break I guess. I just started reading this book Best Friends Forever. It's ok. It's kinda corny and sometimes seems concocted like the author is trying to hard to make up the story with twists. But it's light and easy reading. Also, I'm thinking about going back to college and stuff and have been doing a lot of research on colleges and classes and stuff. But now I'm kinda burnt out on that and have nothing to do and am like, hey I should pick up a book again. how are the pups? especially the new one?

yeah, thos balls are good conversation starters. That's a good idea for him to get them for his work. Ummm.... no, nothing exciting planned. Just back to the routine of working and weekends off. Today we are going wine tasting at a local winery with Josh's mom and her husband. In a few weeks we might go to Old Town, it's where San Diego started, and walk around and eat with them too. In December we dog sit for over two weeks over Christmas. That's about it. Any plans for yall?

Yeah, I've been playing with that 20Q ball a lot still. And they said I'd just put it down and forget about it once I got home...

Oh "that" picture! :) It's on Josh's phone. I'll have to get it from him and send it to you.

Hey. So out Texas trip was fun. We got to go sailing and visited a couple small towns. Ate lots of food and hung out. Good times. I saw on the news that the Dallas area is flooded. Is it still bad over there?

Hi! Yeah, I started HP. I'm on like page 90 or something. It's cute and clever. The author has a unique writing style that I see can see why it is very appealing to children. I'm not used to reading fantasy so it's a little strange for me, but the book is definitely compelling, making you want to read on. I'm enjoying it. I do think though that it definitely qualifies as a children's book whereas Twilight, though classified as a YA book, appeals to a broader range of ages. Plus I just like the romance in Twilight. Perhaps there's some romance in HP??.... on second though maybe not, seeing as Harry is only like 10 - that'd be gross.

Oh, I just noticed on my list that Dewey or Hitchhiker's Guide could be easy reads too. I read 1 Dean Koontz book before and I loved it but it was a long time ago. I'm just interested in reading all different kinds of genre. I don't have just one that I stick to. I just read what sounds interesting. And Watchers sounded like the best one to start with from the description. Also, I haven't read anything mysterious or scary in a while so that's why Dean

Ha ha ha! Yeah, I'll be reading and sometime Josh just wont stop talking to me. He'll be telling me to look at what's happening on the TV and I just try to ignore him or just glance really fast without looking but sometimes I have to be like "SHHHHHH! ALREADY". Then he gets all sad. I think he just wants attention.

Yeah, Josh prefers other things than reading, though he does read magazines, which I guess I could be happy about. I just think that reading is really important because a part from being entertaining, it develops your vocabulary, your spelling, your knowledge of life and history and just makes you plain smarter! I don't understand why people don't like reading, but like you said, I guess we can't force them....darn.

What, dad doesn't like to read? or he just doesn't have time? He's the one that gave me my first book about Pocahontas. I also remember he used to read me Bible stories from the children's bible.

Josh won't read either though. The only books I got him interested in was Robinson Crusoe and The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime. They were quite the accomplishments. Other than that he won't touch a book with a ten foot pole.

Well, I'm in the middle of three books right now, all of them are pretty serious books, so I feel like reading something fluffy next. But looking at my TBR list I don't have a lot of fluff...... so maybe it looks like Harry Potter might be next. Or maybe a romance - haven't decided just yet. I kinda just read what's available at the time at the library.

I see you finished Marley and loved it!

YES! I do know. This site is so addicting and makes you want to read as fast as you can so you can move onto the next book in your long list. Yeah, there's some books that are recommended to me but they are written way back when and that stuff's just to hard to comprehend. I prefer reading for fun and pleasure too. SO the oldest I'll usually go back is like the 1800's. There, it's still slightly challenging but I know what the heck they're writing.

Well I read Romeo and Juliet when I was in high school. and yes I found it pretty hard to read and understand. It's probably one of the hardest things I've read because of the old english. But I just think everyone should read it because it is a great story and a classic. Maybe watch the movie first and then read the book. It helps you understand what they heck they are talking about.

Also, never read silence of the lambs.... seen the movie a long time ago. Yes, he's freaky!
