I am an elementary and middle school librarian by day, and a stark raving bibliophile by night. I love all sorts of things from Beowulf to best sellers, and if I ever go missing, odds are you'll find me between the leaves of my latest literary endeavour. I also collect rare and antique books, anything written or published by the Inklings,... more »

I haven't started yet! Still pushing my way through the Chronicles of Prydain, just finished #3 (Castle of Llyr). As soon as I finish up with this series I'll be moving on either to Hunger Games or to Girl with a Dragon Tattoo. Have you read that one?

It's been forever, but I wanted to let you know I just picked up Hunger Games. Haven't started it yet (promised a friend I would read The Book of Three by Lloyd Alexander first) but its pretty high on my reading list. Found anything good lately? I think a complete Newbery read would be awesome, by the way...

Thanks for the heads up! I'll make sure to get to the book signing early, maybe I'll grab my laptop and just spend the whole day there. I really, really, really want a signed copy, or 2 :) I'll let you know how it goes!

Hey Wayne! How are you? I see you've read Mockingjay, how did you like it? I'm planning to get my hands on it soon... my library consortium has over 400 holds on it, crazy! but there are 244 copies, so I might be able to get my hands on it soon :)

I definitely need to read it before Oct 4th, Suzanne Collins is doing a book signing at a bookstore here in Schaumburg, I'm super excited to meet her!

    Have a good weekend!

Thanks for all the suggestions! I'm stuck in Elizabeth Peters' Amelia Peabody series right now (her series is like Lays -- you can't read just one) and am going to delve into some theology for a while as well, but as soon as I'm done with that I'm sure that I'm going to be more than ready to hit some children's lit! Thanks in particular for the Newberry recommendation... it would be cool to go through and read all those in chronological order at some point haha.

Haha some of the boys that I babysit for have been trying to get me to read Wimpy Kid but I'm still holding out! It's funny though? I'm currently taking a rare venture into adult lit... but I doubt it will last longer than one book. I unfortunately don't use Yahoo or MSN, but I do use Skype chat. Are you on there?

I actually got into the Elizabeth Peters mysteries for a while, which I LOVED. They're like Indiana Jones on paper, how much better can it get? I'm about to do a re-read of Narnia though, I believe. I always get the urge to read those when it gets close to Christmastime. Have you read anything good lately?

Oh, and I ended up posting my survey on the groups I'm a member of and I've gotten a bunch of responses there, so I think I'm covered -- but thanks for being willing!

Hey -- long time no talk! I'm writing a paper on Shelfari and I have to interview a couple of users for it, and I was wondering if you minded if I asked you? It's totally okay if you would rather not, but I just thought I would ask.

    Hi Wayne!

Sorry I haven't replied in so long, I'm a bad friend :( I've been so busy! I'm taking 2 classes this semester (Library 2.0 and Competitive Intelligence) and working full time, plus I'm trying to get all of my non-school reading done hehe

I'm glad you liked Catching Fire, wasn't the last sentence the best? I feel the same way -- I really need the next book, can't wait till it's out. I haven't been able to check out 39 clues yet, my library has a long wait for the first book, which can only mean that kids are really loving it since it's always out. I did just finish People of Sparks (the 2nd book of Ember) and I really enjoyed it. I'll have to check out the last unicorn, it sounds really interesting... Sorry I don't have any recommendations for you right now, unless you're interested in my school books, they're not as fun though :)

Did you get to meet Kate DiCamillo? How did it go?

Welcome to 1001 books. You can keep track of the books you have read from the book, 1001 Books You Must Read Before You Die, join in the discussions on the books we are reading for the month (BOTM) or you can debate the merits of the list as some enjoy doing. We hope you will want to join in the choosing of BOTM and the discussions. The current books are pinned to the top for that month. There are older discussions that can be found by searching discussions. If there is any way the group administrator can help further feel free to ask one of us. If you don’t own the book the list can be found at the top in the group description or at http://www.listology.com/content_show.cfm?content_id=22845. A downloadable list of the second edition is available at http://johnandsheena.co.uk/books/?page_id=160.

Haha let me know how that goes. I have thus far refused to pick it up, partly because I love the original already and partly because I'm not a fan of what I consider glorified fan-fiction. I will definitely let you know if I want any more suggestions -- I think I'll pick up Hunger Game after I'm done with Seeing Redd and see what I can make of it. Let me know if you seek any suggestions as well :)

I've looked at those before and never picked them up, though I'm not entirely sure why. I'm loving The Looking Glass Wars, by the way. Almost finished with the first one :)

What about Hunger Games? I'm usually not a huge sci-fi fan, especially post-apocalyptic, but that sounds interesting.
