The author of that book 'There should have been castles' is Herman Raucher.
Hmm ...flipping pages on quite a random note ..random genre's to be precise! ;)
If my guess is anything but correct :P ..that I am already a month late in my reply; "you must have had finished up chewing ..errr! I mean reading 'The Mayfair Series.' So a Critical analysis of that is so very vehemently looked forward to...
For putting dark humor in a rightful spotlight - A read that translucently flows with a lot of witticism thrown around here and there, through out in quite a haphazard manner. Sarcasm make's for a lot of its base, reveling the (sometimes unwanted) humor in the dullest of part within the plot of the book. Even subtle emotions of sadness aren't spared. Try laughing at that! Fun quotient is always there but at a serious cost of '...well seriousness!"
p.s - Recommended read for a taste of dark humor; 'The Idea Of Perfection.' (..on the shelf!)
As for my reading composes mostly of humour ...that being not the in your face stuff, but rather those which induces the sudden chuckles and lol' situation, no matter where you read it. Till recently most of the books, those I read carried the dark humor ...and Man! do I love it or what! Have tried my hands at the 'Servant of the bones' a book about a mighty soul/ghost/angel ...by Anne Rice. If you may have read anything by her, or on those genre ..do suggest me something.
Hey then you may surely like 'There should have been castles' ...do find that, its continuous picturesque journey through the view of two people. It is composed in a way such that, when you come to a particular plot where one of the character is done with his part of the on-going' story and you start with the other's ...the whole 'fill-in-the-blanks' comes into play, giving the reader a perspective of varied proportions. This book is a mix of romance and suspense ...and yeah it is a fiction with a added hints of reality!

For some fast and fun read, try the 'the thunderbolt kid' by bill bryson, if you haven't already read 'you are here' do go for that one. It is short and makes up for the interesting factor.
what kind of read do you prefer the most??
