Kerry (a.k.a. jadedirishgryphon) is a retired teacher with a love of travel and photography. So far, he has been to parts of Africa, the Middle East, Europe, and North America. His favorite city is Paris. When not traveling, he enjoys reading about other peoples and cultures be it works of fiction or fact (He's an on-line international news junkie).
Kerry is also an avid reader. His first love of reading was science fiction (Heinlein and Clark), but he has branched out in many directions since then. Mercedes lackey and Charles de Lint are his favorite fantasy authors. Mystery favorites include Cara Black, Marcia Mueller, Clive Cussler, Tony Hillerman,Jane Haddam, the Thurlows, Ian Rankin, M.C. Beaton. He has recently discovered the mystery works of S.J. Rozman and Deborah Turrell Atkinson. His favorite travel authors are Paul Theroux and Bill Bryson. Fictional travel/historical author James Clavell is high on his reading list. Doonesbury is the political cartoon series he reads daily. Although escapism and travel dominate his reading, Kerry enjoys a variety of other genres and is always open to recommendations for new authors to explore.
