I am currently a librarian in Friendswood, Texas. I work with students from 4th thru 6th grades. I love what I do and what I do is get students turned onto books. My second greatest joy, other than my family, are my guinea pigs. We have 6 that live in the library and often they recommend a book or two.

    I truly appreciate you sharing your experience with me. I can't imagine how difficult it must have been to be in the hospital and pursuing an undergraduate degree. I am 51 years old. My decision to pursue teaching was the result of many layoffs. After applying to the NYC Teaching Fellowship program in April, I was denied. I have been unemployed for over a year. But thanks to your encouragement I may take the PRAXIS test and hopefully get into teaching via the alternate route. I will keep you posted. In the mean time I'll continue to share books with you as it seems we have similar reading tastes.
