I am an avid reader. I read from nearly every genre but mostly I enjoy fiction. I get enough informational reading through news sites, blogs, and scholarly websites. Sometimes I just want to be entertained. :)

Are the Star Trek books better than the TV series ? Personally, I love the TV series {all of them}.

Oh and this is funny, my husband checked Twilight out at the library for me and the male librarian was like (sarcastically) 'hope you enjoy This!' What a pompous A** Of course, I fought reading this as long as I could. But I bought one of the books last year for my niece and I wasn't embarrassed about buying it, unlike the time I bought a Clay Aiken DVD for my boss.

I got it yesterday from the Library and I have already read half the book. So, I guess it is safe to say that I like it. It is not great literature by any means but I believe it taps into something for us that are older, that feeling of first love. That feeling where you just can't get enough of the person you are so into. It is taking me make and making me think of those first loves.

Seriously, it is your pick. Whatever you think is safe for you to read is fine by me.

Either is fine by me! It is all on you. Now, both the books I suggested are about over weight women. If you gain weight it will be on you!

With as much as you read you wouldn't be able to walk in the house because it would be wall to wall books! I love books, and I like owning them, but really, unless you know that you are going to reread a book it is silly to buy them. They just end up sitting on a shelf gathering dust.

Now, I have two books sitting on my shelf that I have never read. A friend lent them to me after my ectopic pregnancy and for some reason I opted to read about Jack the Ripper. I explain that choice. Anyway, they are chick lit books that you might be interested in. The first is Jemima J (a novel about ugly ducklings and swans) by Jane Green and the other is Good in Bed by Jennifer Weiner. But these are just suggestions. It is your pick this month.

I am up for either book. I like that time period and have never read Phillippa Gregory. What is a Brief Gaudy Hour about? I am asking when I will probably go look it up as soon as I finish this note. The only reason I am changing my mind about the Vanity and Vexation is it doesn't seem to be available at the library. I am trying not to buy books unless it is absolutely necessary or can get them really cheap. Anyway, I am going to let you choose the book this month. That way it will be on you if anymore weird coincidences(sp?) occur. You pick it and I will post it.

Sorry to hear that. Have you read any of the Anita Blake series by Laurel K. Hamilton ? If not I recommend finding the 1st book in the series or otherwise you might be lost about some of the characters and how they came to be in the plot line.

I didn't like the Vampire Diaries in the book form. To me, they were poorly written and just plain ole boring.

Ok, since no one else has suggested anything we will read Oryx and Crake. That way we will be able to get it from the Library. I will post the selection on the website.

I tried reading her Blind Assassin but was unable to get through it. I have not read Cat's Eye but I will have to put it on the list. Well, should we read one of her books for the book club?

Yeah, I was not as impressed with her attempt at novel writing. I loved The Six Wives of Henry the VIII and her novel on Elizabeth. Of course, I made the mistake I always tend to make with authors. I read one of their novels that I love, so I then start reading everthing they wrote. Then it becomes all blended together. For example, I read all of Edith Whartons novels right around the same time. They were all excellent, but if you asked me to tell you specifics about them I would be unable to because they have all become one giant story.

I have read the Handmaid's Tale and 1984. Both excellent! She has a new book out called the Year of the Flood. It sounds very interesting and I thought we could read it for the Book Club. But it looks like it is a sequel to her novel , Oryx and Crake. It looks like it is a story about the world after a pandemic wipes out most of the population.

Was looking at your shelves & noticed you have The Hiding Place. I agree , that was one of the best historical books I've ever read. I read it over 25 years ago and can tell you it left a lasting impression on my soul. The part when she refused to lie about where her brothers were to the Nazi' got to me. Can't say I'd have that fortitude or honesty when it came to protecting my family as Miss Corrie had.
