Don't ever worry about taking so long to reply! We're all busy and sometimes one has to actually take time to think! I just changed my Facebook page a tad...I'm told there's more than 1 Laura Panama, including one with "weird pictures" according to one friend, but my picture is a painting by Waterhouse at the moment, and my profile mentions my fantasy cities (continuing with the fantasy screen name!) of Paris and Cambridge. Have a great weekend...
Those 2 are definitely on my To Buy list! I need to recheck with the half-decent online bookshop here to see if they've gotten them yet. If not, I'll find them elsewhere! I read up to those 2 -- thank you for the reminder! I adore Laurie R King and read all of her Russell and her Kate books, though sometimes rather late.
Any Facebook advice for me? I am PARANOID about privacy, safety, etc. I used to be on it but they changed my privacy settings and I got tons of horrid emails as a result. (I deleted your name message because I wanted to protect your privacy, so you see how paranoid I am!) But I sure would love to see your pictures! And it's so cool about your translation stuff! And thank you for your kind words about the possibility I could actually do some genealogy!
I hope your summer is going really well! Ages ago you mentioned you enjoy armchair traveling -- if you feel like it, I actually finally wrote up some recent trips within India and to Singapore at http://diaryofahistorywriter.blogspot.com/2010/08/travels-in-india.html and http://diaryofahistorywriter.blogspot.com/2010/08/perfect-vacation-in-singapore.html .
I'm glad you liked it, Kelly! The 17th century bits were my favourite part, too and I thought maybe there could have been a bit more of it. If you're a descendant you might like to try The Heretic's Daughter by Kathleen Kent, who is also related to one of the Salem witches, Martha Carrier. The story is told from the viewpoint of Martha's daughter Sarah and is full of historical detail; I finished it last week and it's definitely a favourite.
