I just checked in to post that I had finished reading The Three Weissmann's of Westport and noticed you were reading The Tiger's Wife. I just downloaded it from the library and am on page 25. Another one of those unexplained coincidences!
Yes, I have. It is one of the most beautiful places on earth. I thought that it might be Bryce or even the Grand Canyon in the background. On the other hand, I thought it might be in BC.Did you visit Zion National Park? The canyonlands of Utah are spectacular.Later,HN
Susan,I'm curious. What does the sign say in your picture. I can't make it out.Later,HN
Hi Susan,Thanks for the invitation. I look forward to visiting your shelf for new reading material. What I have already seen looks very interesting.Later,HN
I noticed you read Solar by Ian Mcewan. Is it worth a read?
Hi Sue, Not a gentleman's war looks really interesting. I'll have to read that one. It's been a very hot summer here and I'm ready for Fall!
Where did you Sleep Last NIght sounds interesting. Let me know if you liked it.
Noticed youn had "Harry Truman's Excellent Adventure" on your shelf. Let me know what you think. It looks like and enjoyable read.
Finished Last Train to Hiroshima not too long ago. Fascinating! Hope you like it.
Good day to you!I really enjoyed Garp, but I was telling Margo that I just didn't care for the lastest "Last Night In Twisted River". In fact, I was over half way through before I dropped it in the library bin. I am really enjoying the "German Mujahid". I have always had an interest in Nazi Germany stemming from a high school teacher whose parents survived Hilter's "Final Solution". I've always asked myself, How? Why? Sansal says, "There was no reason for what had happened. To try to find a root cause for evil was absurd. Evil is. It has existed since the dawn of time. Looking for a means to analyse it or a ready made explanation is pointless, and weighing every detail in the balance is self-defeating." Sansal equates the Nazis to Islamic Fundamentalists, but there are many examples in history where evil and hatred lead to genocide. Anyway...So far it's a good read, but it's not going to provide a needed laugh. Perhaps I should pick up Primo's Survival At Auschwitz.I hope you are enjoying the Olympics. Go Canada! B.C. and Vancouver look stunning. I will relay your greetings and love to Jenny.
some of the books on your list look like ones i might like. I'll have to add them to my list.
Good day. Our public library has a good selection of new books. "The Game of Opposites" is a 2009 release. I have started "Heart of Darkness" several times in my life, but never finished. It's the same story with "Catcher In The Rye"... started, but never finshed. I have thought of adding that one to my list also now that Salinger has moved on.I have really enjoyed using Shelfari. It's a much better way of keeping track of what I have read. I used to just write the titles in a small green notebook. I understand I have you to thank for the Shelfari recommendation.
To See You Again is a wonderful book! I don't know why it didn't show up on my shelf but I gave it 5 stars. I'll never forget it. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
What a nice surprise! Just like Christmas. You must let me surprise you some time. I insist as I need to weed and would rather send to a real reader. Please send me your address via my e-mail. Can't thank you enough...it made my day!
Hi Susan, look forward to being friends and sharing good books. I can relate to what you said about "like a kid in a candy store." So many good books!!
Hi Susan,Thanks for your kind offer to mail me the book. Is it non-fiction? I really hate for you to go to that trouble unless I can find something that I can mail to you. I will look through my give-aways and see if I can interest you in one of them. I've been rather slow in responding lately as I'm recovering from back surgery. Thanks again.
Hi Susan, I see you're reading Descent into Darkness about the horrible times after Pearl Harbor. I really enjoyed it even though parts were hard to read. I always want to know what happened AFTER a war or major event. Parts of this book have stayed with me forever especially after visiting Pearl Harbor where you can still see oil seeping up from the battleship Arizona after all of these years.
Hi Susan, Sure I'll be your friend. I'll enjoy looking at your shelf. I know mine is lengthy but I kept a list for years as teachers always asked for recommendations and my mind was always blank! Another excuse is that I'm old! I have been to Vancouver once. What a lovely city. Judy
Hi Mom! I see you are adding to your list!!! I hope Aunt Margo joins us:)
