Hi folks. I'm a kiwi gal, married with children, and have a passion for seeing people face the past, embrace the present and hope for the future. I usually read for knowledge/improvement, so the odd novel is a welcome break. I'd love to add 'friends'with similar reading tastes and see your reviews. Bless!

Hello, June. I’m the author of The Sandal Maker, a new novel about the public ministry of Jesus from a unique point of view, a little controversial at times. It’s a story that will take you on a fascinating journey in first century Galilee. What part did women play in his ministry? Was he the first feminist? Were the miracles real? Why did Judas betray the Master? How does the gospel of Jesus compare to the gospel according to Peter and Paul? This is a “must read” for those on a true spiritual quest. You can read reviews at Amazon.com. I’m including here the publisher's notes. Let me know what you think.

    From the Publisher
    A. Michaelson's new novel, The Sandal Maker, takes the reader on a fascinating journey back to the year 70 A.D. in worn torn Palestine. The author creatively weaves two stories together, one in the present, the other in the past. Heartwarming, enlightening and tragic, The Sandal Maker paints a portrait of one man's life and his involvement in how the gospel came to be.

The business stuff is good for everyday living to be honest. Plus my career, I've read so many though I'm just keen to be entertained. I see you want to read the Shack...its certainly a book that has polarised the christian community...thats what you get i s'pose for suggesting God is an elderly black woman and the Holy Spirit is a flighty fairy character!

My favourite book of the year would have to be The Shack. Have you read it?

I didn't even realize that people are connected here! A friend recommended this site as a way to keep up with what I read. I do enjoy Francine Rivers. I am a romantic, but I do sometimes get bored with the same old story. I really enjoy her because her themes tend to revolve around forgiveness. Also, there is a tenderness in her writing that gives me a chance to release some emotion. Due to that, it could just be me that would enjoy her style, but you could always give it a try. I will have to check out 'Captivating'. Thanks for the suggestion. I am about to start back to work so I won't get much reading time in for the next few weeks.
