I recently read "Mudbound" and "The Kitchen House" - both of which are set in the south and I enjoyed both a ton. My book group is reading Freedom but I chose not to read it. I am almost finished with a short whimsical read "Saving CeeCee Honeycutt" and am then going to read "One Amzing Thing".

    Diane,
I just finished Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close, which Emily recommended. I really enjoyed it! Have you read that one? I am also planning to read Alice I Have Been, which is about the girl that Alice from Alice in Wonderland was based on. Both Marie and Gretchen liked it.
Have a wonderful trip...and keep sending me book ideas!
    Thanks! Dianna

I just finished 'Shanghai Girls'. Have you read Lisa See's 'Snow Flower and the Secret Fan"---or her mystery series--"Flower Net', "Interiors" and 'Dragon Bones"? Also read 'The Girl With the Dragon Tatoo"---excellent. And anything by Henning Mankell is great--- a series about a Swedish detective --Kurt Wallender__ played by Kenneth Branagh in the PBS series. I loved :The Guernsey Literary Society...." One by Lee Smith called "Fair and Tender ladies" is also written in a letter format. I think you would really enjoy it.
