Bonjour Everyone! My name is Lauren and I'm 20. I absolutely love to read, I taught myself to read when I was 5, and have been reading pretty much non-stop ever since, I read basically everything, I am not daunted by length or vocabulary and I read pretty much anything with the exception of horror fiction and also M/M romance, my mom and grandma are both big readers, and my mom read to me for years. Literacy has made such a profound difference in my life, and I passionately believe that regardless of your age, race, social standing, etc, you should know how to read. I love romance novels and I read them all the time, but they are by no means all I read. To me libraries are one of the best things ever, I like to take out the so called classics from my library because one thing I've discovered about them is that a lot of the classics are pretty boring (sorry to those who love them, but that's what I've found) and I also like to take out books read them and if I like it, buy it. I'd rather find out I hate X by X and be able to take it back, than have to return it to the bookstore. I was born and raised in Detroit Michigan and we moved to when I was 9 to be near extended family. Moving to the south was an adjustment to say the least, but I've come to like it a lot here, I can't say i love it, but I like it. I miss dry heat though! And I passionately miss the north. One of the best things about moving is that we got to have a lot more pets, all we could have in our Townhouse in Michigan was a cat and a hamster, after we moved here, our menagerie expanded to what it is now: 2 cats,, 1 mouse, my mom's hamster, 1 anole lizard, my mom's fish, 1 toad, 1 frog, Nellie our crazy dog and a tarantula. We've had a lot of different pets in the past, Tarantulas (one of which I let crawl on my face), a Millipede that was about 4 inches long (which I also let crawl on my face), a newt, a turtle, tree frogs and others. I love animals and nature and abhor animal cruelty or abuse of any kind and also passionately believe that when we leave this world, we should leave it better than when we entered it so I passionately support and am involved with causes such the NRDC, the World Wildlife Fund, the ASPCA, Voice of the Martyrs, the National Wildlife Federation, Oxfam, the American Cancer Society, The Red Cross and UNICEF. As you might guess from my greeting, I know French, my mom had 7 years of French in middle and high school and has taught me quite a bit, by no means do I have a complete grasp of the Language, but I do know a fair bit and I love the language, it's so beautiful and so many of the words we use today are French, the reason why we don't recognize them as such is because they ve been Americanized. I have been homeschooled since kindergarten or since I was 6 or 7, and I have and do love it, one of the best things about being homeschooled in my opinion at least, is that I can read as much as I want. I love to learn and actively seek to learn new things. My favorite subjects and the ones in which coincidentally (or not, haha) I do very well are art, world and US history, zoology, biology, geography, science, entomology and the language arts, I am a stickler for proper pronunciation, capitalization and spelling as my family will tell you. When I was younger I wanted to be an Egyptologist, and although I have since changed my mind, I still love to read about and learn about all aspects of ancient Egyptian life, to me they where an amazing people and they had an amazing culture and their accomplishments where nothing short of genius and amazing and ever since learning about them I have always admired the ancient Egyptians and their culture, religion and way of life. I was given a digital camera for my 16th birthday and a love and passion for photography was born, I take my camera with me just about everywhere and have taken hundreds of pictures and I think I have a pretty good eye, I am an utter perfectionist when it comes to my photography and I will take and retake a picture 100 times until I'm satisfied, I have decided to enter some of my work in an upcoming local contest. I have always been a creative person, and I come from a creative family, my mom and grandpa both have beautiful singing voices, which sadly seems to have skipped my generation, I can't carry a tune in a bucket, but I love to sing anyway, my grandma used to do painting, sketching, decoupage and something called paper quilling which I myself now practice, now she does a lot of sewing, one of my uncles on my fathers side is a famous artist, but I don't know his name. And I plan to parlay my creativity into my future career, I love to cook and bake and people tell me I'm really good at it, I'm strongly considering becoming a chef.
