“The whole group enjoyed this book, finding it an uplifting and enjoyable read. Several commented that they were pleasantly surprised, on reading the book, that it was not depressing, as one might expect the writings of a man with terminal cancer to be. Dr. Randy Pausch had such an incredible sense of humor and ability to express that humor that reading this book was a joy. His power for inspiring greatness in others is admirable and his accounts of such incidents, inspiring to read. This book focuses on achieving your dreams and making wonderful memories and helping others to do so and expresses that in entertaining anecdotes. One member commented that passing this book on to a friend who's spouse has Alzheimer's was a welcome gift. Others mentioned that this would be a good gift for almost anyone.
It should be noted that, while this book came about because of the unexpected popularity of the internet broadcast of Dr. Pausch's Last Lecture at Carnegie Mellon University, it is not simply a transcription of that lecture. Some of the stories are retold, but there is new information in the book as well. I found the book to be wonderful in it's own right and would suggest that anyone interested read the book as well as view the lecture.
Pros: Inspiring, enjoyable, uplifting
Cons: That there will not be another book by this incredible teacher
