I'm posting this note to those who voted to read either Elizabeth and Mary: Cousins, Rivals, Queens or The Four Musketeers during our voting session. As you know, I offered up the option to read these instead of (or in addition to) King Leopold's Ghost as the votes for all three were very close with KLG beating the other two by only one vote. If you've read either of the alternates, the discussions threads for both books is now up on the History Non-Fiction Group discussion page. If you haven't read them yet, I have to say that I would not have chosen either book on my own but read them both in case the alternate books were chosen and I am very glad I did. They were both wonderfully written and informative. Discussion for King Leopold's Ghost will be posted mid-December to avoid the Christmas rush.

Thank you! Don't feel left out with the first three character points of view. I think you'll most relate to the reporter and how the story comes full circle. Enjoy and have a very happy Thanksgiving.

    I Love you

I love you to the moon
I love you to the end of the planets.

I love you till there's no love in the equator
I love you knowing nothing could be greater
I will love you from now until decades later.

Let me love you now not later
    let me love you to
    Northern skies
    Western hemispheres
    without worries, fears or cares.

    Allow me to love you
    until you care
    Open up-heal from old wounds
    that you start to share.

Our love is genuine-it can't compare.
    Now your love has opened
like a brand new gift on Christmas
See what happens when you allow
    someone to love you.

Hi Rachel - Welcome to the History Non-Fiction Group. Please forgive me for taking so long to welcome you. I've been away on business. I'm the Admin for the group and am interested in what our members like to read and what they want to get out of this group. If you haven't already done so, please introduce yourself in our "Welcome and Introduction" thread and tell us what your interests are. The group is currently reading The Linguist and the Emperor: Napoleon and Champollion's Quest to Decipher the Rosetta Stone by Daniel Meyerson for the Jul-Sep quarter. This book discusses the two men whose lives intersected over a love of all things Egypt and led to Champollion solving the mystery of the language on the Rosetta Stone. It's not too late to join in with the group. The book is fairly short - only 271 pages including the Author's Note at the end - and easy to read so it's a good book for the first ever quarterly read. Discussion thread will be posted mid-September. Please join us. Again, glad to have you with us.

How did you like My Antonia? It is one of my favorite books of all time! The language is very simple like the times and countryside she writes about but the power is in the scenery she depicts with her language.

Hi, Rachel. I’m from the Booktivity group and wanted to welcome you to our group. How this works is that every month a category is voted on by our members. Depending what the category is for that month, you just need to find a word in the title that fits the category, read that book, and come back and post a review of it.

This month, the category is travel. Hope you’ll join us and have fun!
