I love to read, scrapbook, watch movies, listen to music and play games (video or board) with my children. I am currently in the process of writting my first novel; a sci-fi trilogy (a tril because there is too much to put in one or two books). I have found that I love to write as much as I love to read with the exception that reading flows so... more »

If you found Still Alice interesting, you might be intrigued by The Bird House (Simon & Schuster) which the Library Journal called “a great title for book clubs, and especially fans of Lisa Genova’s Still Alice.”

Thanks so much – happy to connect on Shelfari if you’re up for it.

Hi, and welcome to the Chiller group. Our group's been around for a while so there are a ton of threads. Hop on over to our introduction post. Tell the group hi and talk about some of your favorite horror authors or books. Feel free to start your own discussion posts and browse our growing group shelf.

Any questions at all just ask, same for suggestions or ideas.

I'm trying to catch up on these since my month has been a little more hectic than usual. I apologize if this is a duplicate message or is extremely late!

I totally agree with what you said about her writing. Her style is refreshing in that it's pretty straight to the point. It really makes you love Katniss. I'm still not sure what I think about Haymitch (what with how Catching Fire ended, and all), but I like the relationship he and Katniss had, especially in the first book. I liked how they understood each other, even if they didn't really like each other. And Peeta is simply adorable. I wonder how the events in the second book will change him in the third, like the events of the first book changed him in the second. I love how she allows her characters to grow in that way.
I just finished the two books by Lisa McMann ("Wake" and "Fade"). Have you read them? If you haven't, I think you'll really enjoy them, because she shares aspects of her writing style with Collins.

The Divided Crown is actually the sequel to Isabel Glass's first one, Daughter of Exile. I would recommend you read that one first. I liked it better than The Divided Crown, though it too was a very good book. Daughter of Exile is one of those books I could read over and over again my entire life.
I'm glad you friend-requested me! I just took a look at your shelf, and you have a lot of books that I've both read and want to read. I read both The Hunger Games and Catching Fire fairly recently, and enjoyed them both. What did you think?

Welcome to 1001 books. You can keep track of the books you have read from the book, 1001 Books You Must Read Before You Die, join in the discussions on the books we are reading for the month (BOTM) or you can debate the merits of the list as some enjoy doing. We hope you will want to join in the choosing of BOTM and the discussions. The current books are pinned to the top for that month. There are older discussions that can be found by searching discussions. If there is any way the group administrator can help further feel free to ask one of us. If you don’t own the book the list can be found at the top in the group description or at http://www.listology.com/content_show.cfm?content_id=22845. A downloadable list of the second edition is available at http://johnandsheena.co.uk/books/?
