Thanks for the recommendations! I will look into these when I return from traveling. I downloaded "Everyday by The Sun" to my Kindle to take with me. Have you read it yet?

Hi! I agree Faulknerish should be a word! Ok you asked for it...LOL Here are my favorite books, or ones I thought you would enjoy from the past year. I love to read many different genres, except biographys, so these books reflect that.
Radio Shangri-La by Lisa Napoli This is about Buhtan, the happiest place on earth.
Incendiary by Chris Cleave Written as a letter to Osama bin Laden
Finny by Justin Kramon Funny and a love story
The Forgotten Garden by Kate Morton GREAT!
Sarah's Key by Tatiana de Rosnay Great too!
Change of Hear by Josi Picoult Miracles, love, a very good book. I was surprised
The Help by Kathryn Stockett Domestic help in the 1960's south great!
Sku Burial by Xinran Love story, about Tibet
Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafon a great read
Firefly Lane by Kristin Hannah Love story, Cancer human emotions
Room by Emma Donoghue A mother and Son help captive in a room. Told from the boys perspective. He is 5
Millennium Trilogy by Stieg Larsson - Great
The Hunger Games Trilogy by Suzanne Collins - Could't put down
The Passage by Justin Cronin - Futuristic but great
One Amazing Thing by Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni Human Nature
Anything by Nelson DeMille, Chris Bohjalian or Ken Follett

I hope this helps. Let me know if you plan to read any. I would love to know what you think. Any recommendations for me?

I haven't read anything Faulknerish (is that a word?) lately. I have read some great books though. What is your favorite genre?

ooo ok. hmm, well I really like Jonathan Safran Foer, "Extremely loud and Incredibly close" and my favorite, "Everything is Illuminated." I guess that's contemporary. I remember liking this book called "The sad truth about happiness," but I read it a long time ago. Paulo Coelho is always an easy read, do you read him? He's semi-contemporary I guess. I'm not sure if I'm the best person to ask, I usually just go look on the new fiction shelf at the library when I'm looking for contemporary! If I think of anything, I'll let you know.
