“This book The First Part Last, written by Angela Johnson, was terrific because it was strong in the area of content. In the story a 16 year old boy loses everything because he had a baby and because of the baby the mother is in a coma. This is very interesting because it teaches us that we should think before we do anything. “Skipped school with my running buddies, K-boy and J.L”. This is also telling us that he did other thing and he was not thinking before he realized what could happen. Therefore, Angela Johnson has written a book that has a solid content.
Like the content, the style of this book was very street. In the book a friend of bobby says to him “Yo, Bobby. I need some money for a phone call. You got change on you?”. That is improper language because that is like street talk a little. I am saying this is one good way to make this book more descriptive and more “real”. As mentioned above, I was very impressed with the style of this book.
The form of the book was casual and I found this effective. One main reason that this form that this form did work was because it had good story about young kids having kids and some of us young kids have some language we speak outside school but it worked perfectly on how the author used it. Another reason that this form did work because it was not to many words that was hard so it was pleasurable to read. These reasons made the form of the book work for me. It was excellent because the author had the story organized. As a result, I give this book a great recommendation because the content, form, and style are perfectly set up and how everything from then to now led up to the end perfectly.
