There just isn't enough time in the world to read all the books I'll want to. This makes me sad.

Did it really? I re-watched the film the other day so thought I would try the book. I read the first ten pages or so this morning, it kind of read like a film script weirdly, like it was just describing the visuals scene by scene. Maybe that is because I saw the film first though...

Why do I see Twilight on your plan to read shelf Russ?! Surely the film was torture enough. :-)

Ok so it went downhill straight after I wrote that below. The last 4 chapters are wierd. I wish it had explained more about other bits. Unsatisfying at the end but I can't score it less than a 3 because the rest of it was so good.

You're wrong about 'the terror'! I've almost finished it; it was slow to start, and some bits go on for too long, but overall I'm liking it so far. I'll see how I feel when I get to the end but so far it's a 3/4. I like the story of that expedition anyway, from when I read about it when I was a kid. He's pretty good at describing the Arctic.

That expedition forms the historical bit of Cussler's 'Arctic Drift'

Yeah, gonna stick them on the wish list so I don't forget. Heard good things about the descent. Just started reading 'The Stand' tonight.
