I love escaping into the world of a good book! My mum passed on her love of books to me, grew up with shelves full of books all around me. I love the smell of them and the feel of the pages.

I prefer reading paperbacks. I'm just not keen on hardbacks, you can't bend & shape them :) I'll give most books ago though if I start a book and... more »

My cat's name is Bailey. He just turned 7 in October. He got his name because he was found under a hay bale around Halloween. A woman in a gift shop found him and brought him inside and put him in a basket. Of course when I walked in and heard him crying I could not resist. Bailey couldn't have been more than three weeks old, because he could not even walk. I bottle fed him and he and his brother Spike, a black and white cat have me very well trained. I love my dog, but I really love my cats the best.

Just because ... I'm new to Shelfari and was just trying out the tabs and clicked on community and down to most active. I saw your pink profile cat under tags and just clicked. When I saw UK I thought of the two most recent books I had read about England and thought you might be interested too. They were both interesting, especially the Gurnsey book. I never realized that part of England was occupied in WWII

    Hey Penny
If you like murder mysteries you need to read The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie - takes place in England and the 'heroine' is 11 years old! Loved it and of course the Gurnsey Literary and Potato Peel Society has to be one of my most favorite books -it's a sweet book (usually not my style) about WWII

Welcome to 1001 books. You can keep track of the books you have read from the book, 1001 Books You Must Read Before You Die, join in the discussions on the books we are reading for the month (BOTM) or you can debate the merits of the list as some enjoy doing. We hope you will want to join in the choosing of BOTM and the discussions. The current books are pinned to the top for that month. There are older discussions that can be found by searching discussions. If there is any way the group administrator can help further feel free to ask one of us. If you don’t own the book the list can be found at the top in the group description or at http://www.listology.com/content_show.cfm?content_id=22845. A downloadable list of the second edition is available at http://johnandsheena.co.uk/books/?
