Glad to see you are reading this. I know you are going to love it.
I'm really enjoying it, I'd like to talk to her about it. Also if you haven't, you need to read Unbroken, just fantastic.
I am about 1/2 way through it and am enjoying it very much.
Through some diabolical glitch at Shelfari I ended up with TWO accounts and could only sign in to the newly created one. So I've had to transfer all of my books and, more or less, start from scratch. In the process I've also lost all of my "friends" and "followers". I've tried to get Shelfari to correct the situation to no avail. They keep referring me to Amazon and the Amazon "help" people claim never to have heard of Shelfari. Hope you'll continue to "follow" me at my new location. Gunter
The History Non-Fiction Group is voting for the Oct-Dec Quarterly Group read. We've had several interesting books nominated. Please take a look and vote if you'd like to join in.
Hi Eric. Thanks for recommending 'Firestorm at Peshtigo'. It sounds like a book I'd enjoy.
Hi Eric, Thanks for the Outwitting the Gestapo recommendation! The French Resistance is a fascinating subject as well. This looks good and I'm adding it to my TBR. Have a great day!
The History Non-Fiction Group is set to read The Linguist and the Emperor: Napoleon and Champollion's Quest to Decipher the Rosetta Stone by Daniel Meyerson for the Jul-Sep quarter. This book discusses the two men whose lives intersected over a love of all things Egypt and led to Campollion solving the mystery of the language on the Rosetta Stone. The book is fairly short - only 271 pages including the Author's Note at the end - and easy to read so it's a good book for the first ever quarterly read. Please join us if you're interested.Jan
Hello Eric. Just thought you'd like to know that, in addition to the paperback and hardcover versions, my book "Weeds Like Us" is now available on KINDLE at www.amazon.com. It's also available on SONY READER. Other e-versions are coming soon! Best wishes, Gunter
Just popping in to announce that nominations for the History Non-Fiction Group are now closed and the Voting link is up. Please check it out and vote for one of the nominated books for the Jul-Sep Quarterly Group Read.Jan - Group Admin
Nice photo Eric!!!
you're welcome. yes, i'm ready for this warm weather, it's exciting but there's supposed to be more snow coming this weekend apparently ) : happy reading to you too!
Dear Eric,If you're going to start with one book on that subject, I'd recommend "After the Reich" by Giles MacDonogh. My own book "Weeds Like Us" also deals with the same topic on a much more personal scale.Regards,Gunter
Hi Eric - hope your Saturday is going well. You probably have an irregular week, sometimes working on weekends, hmm? Sometime you'll have to tell me more about your job and about SE Wisconsin. Love, love your comment about Shelfari being the world's greatest card catalogue! What an apt description. Too often I spend hours surfing the site, much to the detriment of my actual reading time. You mentioned my shelves and book interests - they probably are much too varied for my own good. Noticed you've added The Summer of 1787 - hope you'll enjoy it as much as I did. Bye for now....
Whoa, it just registered that your photo shows an ambulance, not a fire truck. Sorry for my error.
I see you joined Chronological Read of American History. I hope you enjoy the conversation. Voting for John Quincy Adams is open through the weekend. Feel free to jump in.
Hello it's nice to meet you as well. How are you?
Hi Eric, it will be fun comparing lists and our likes and dislikes. Write me any time. I'm on here for hours at a time, first adding books I've read over the years, then going back and adding reviews to the ones that are particularly memorable in one way or another. My great time trap is reviewing reading lists of others, then adding to my voluminous 'To Read' shelf. Am interested in your life as a firefighter. Between what must be adrenaline charged forays thoughout your city, do you have much time for reading? Cheers,Sharon
I wouldn't have expected you know he was in the fire service. Most people assume he is in the military. I concur wtih your praise of Shelfari. My TBR list grows exponentially.....daily. I heard someone once say that we won't die until we have read all of our TBR list. If that is the case I think I've discovered immortality. Now, if I could just find the Fountain of Youth! If you like history you should check out a group I administer. It is called the Chronological Read of American History. We are reading biographies of the presidents in chronological order. We are currently voting on our John Quincy Adams read for April. Voting ends this weekend. We'd love to have you join us.Have a great day!
Nice to meet you, too. So your son is legal, then?Just kidding...We do have totally different reading lists - how did you find me?
