Hi! Nice to hear from you. I've been reading Swiss Family Robinson to Willa but those kids are so "oh look, a new animal, shoot it!" If they see it, they try to kill it. Kevin just started reading the Bible to her (!) She unfortunately goes to a christian preschool (I know, I know, but it's close and Kevin went there) and they have a book of bible stories that she likes so I think that Kevin wanted to present her with the real thing before she glamorized it too much. I sure hope he's editing some, the Bible is just nasty in parts. (As a funny aside, they pray there before snack and one day I heard her muttering in the other room and asked her if she'd been praying. Willa said that yes she had, and I asked who she had been praying to. Apparently I haven't done my job all that badly, because she said "all the goddesses, but mostly Freya, she's my favorite"!)Anyway, we would love to have you visit! That would be lovely! Did you have a particular time of year in mind? Our spring starts in January you know. The plums are getting all budded up and our quince is about to burst into flower.I'm keeping gifts to a minimum this year, I'm sending all the nieces and nephews treasure bags full of jewels, nothing fancy or expensive. I was thinking of sending Emma a papermaking kit, would she like that? Willa likes search and find books, Waldo type things. Primrose likes trucks, especially construction equipment (I thought she would never stop going on about the back-hoe in front of Willa's school, she couldn't say much about it, but she said it frequently).Rebecca
The first two SF books I ever read were The Fifth Column and Fahrenheit 451. I liked them both then, and I still do. Atta was a good read, too, but I don't know if you can find it anymore. I read them in the 1950's. Julia wrote a great report on the history of toilets. Her research materials were very interesting. There are some great different sorts of toilets out there. Much less wasteful than ours that use so much water. I ordered the 13th tale. Mom.
I read a briefer history of time which is shorter than a brief history of time but I still had to reread some pages. The idea of time being not a fixed thing still confuses me.
