Just went to the library yesterday. Have to grab them when they are in :-)
it is REALLY good...a great perspective on that 50s era. I haven't read anything good since...i've been starting/stopping the past 4 or 5 because they just don't have it. Recommend something to me please!
Ug! If you didn't like the first, I'm surprised your book buds think you'd much like the others. It's definitely a taste thing, and her storytelling style runs through all. She's not like authors who change gear from book to book. They are all sequels, although the setting changes to colonial America at some point, and the protagonist becomes mother and grandmother which adds many other layers. Nonetheless, with so many good books in the candy shop, why focus on black licorice? Later!
I am not too far but am enjoying. Been too busy to read!!I still want to hear about the mediatation workshop - will call you soon
Hey Dana,I don't use Shelfari as much as GoodReads, but I love some of your picks! I'll have to check more often for some good recommedations. I wish I could keep both accounts active. Drat.Hey... If you haven't read Diana Gabaldon, you might like her. She's smart (MS biology), so knows how to research (shows in her narratives of nature and medical topics) and her dialog cracks me up. Her website tells how she started writing by dabbling online on Compuserv and getting feedback that way from other community members http://www.dianagabaldon.com/ She's a mom, and this fact comes out later in her sequels. Outlander is the first of her historical fiction (classified as science fiction, but the setting is 18th century Scotland) pieces... long, but I can't put these down. It took the first 50 pages and I was stuck. Just a thought.
