Yeah, Disney is an unusual choice. I find that the popular programmes on Disney or even the newer movies coming out are just really bad examples of over acting, though I kinda like the music I must admit. I really can't imagine Matched as a Disney production though...
I'm really looking forward to your thoughts about The Help. Check out the trailer for the movie on apple trailers....or maybe you want to wait until you've read the book so it isn't ruined for you. I'm trying to get hold of the novel Sarah's Key by Tatiana de Rosnay. There is a movie trailer of that one too, which probably won't be giving away much. It's about a shameful event in France's history - an abuse of the Jews perpetrated not by the Nazis but by their own people. I'm sure it will be a moving book.
And you're a second grade teacher? That's young kids, right? Maybe 6 or 7 year olds? My boys are now 11 and 15 - in New Zealand that's year 6 and year 11. Paddy (11) is one of the eldest in his year and Liam (15) one of the youngest in his. Liam is due to have his head shaved on Friday for the NZ Leukemia and Blood Foundation. He's raised over $700 for cancer sufferers in "Shave for a cure" so we're really proud of him!
What's your school like? Nice kids in your class?
My name is Fiona and I live in Christchurch, NZ. I just signed in to shelfari and saw you've read Matched. I'm reading it now. I see you really liked it, and I'm enjoying it too. The idea of a society entirely controlled intrigues me but I don't like the process of death in Matched (the grandfather). The story premise is really interesting from the way they receive meals, to their life partners to the way every second of their day is mapped out. Without spoiliers (PLEEEEEEEZE!) what did you like best about this book and are you planning to read the other 2 titles in the trilogy? I think I read #2 comes out in Nov over there? This probably means next year for us, especially given the state of our city at present :(
We seem to have some books in common so hopefully we'll be able to have a chat from time to time?
