“I really wanted to like this book. It wasn't bad, and the historical aspects were really interesting (ie how cod fishing led to the discovery of America by Europeans). However, I've got to admit that I skimmed a far amount as I got a little bored with some of the descriptions of fishing boats and techniques. My eyes also glazed over a bit for the international water disputes as well.”

“Being a huge fan of Downton Abbey, it was really fun to learn the real story of Highclere Castle and the people who lived there during this era. The parts about Almina's nursing interests and contributions during WWI were particularly interesting.”

“Whew.. This was a long one, although I did enjoy it and will definitely read the second. Had I not seen the show on HBO, I probably would have had a hard time keeping the characters straight. “Whew.. This was a long one, although I did enjoy it and will definitely read the second. Had I not seen the show on HBO, I probably would have had a hard time keeping the characters straight. I liked how each chapter is from a different character's perspective. It's particularly interesting in terms of which characters don't get their own chapters (I.e. Robb, since all the other Starks have thir own chapters with the exception of the youngest, and most of the Lannisters).”

“Not as good as the first Fifty Shades and definitely pretty repetitive. It got old quickly listening to Ana talk about her "inner goddess"... Learn a new term.. Sheesh!”
